Go tot this chart, and then change it to the last 14 days.

I quite like the 90 day chart, which shows them now at their lowest point of the last 90 days.

They had a spike this weekend, looked like American Gangster preorders, but that did not last long.

These graphs become all the more impactful when you keep in mind the average BD players are what, about 3 times as expensive as HD players? It goes to show, some people will choose the cheap option, but most of us realize, you get what you pay for. Can you imagine the numbers if BD player prices were as low as HD units??

I think that it will be a up and down trip this year for HD DVD, but a steady decline either way.

If you've been following the sales rankings the last few weeks you see HD-DVD titles dropped like a rock.

One of the reasons BBC gave for staying neutral for the time being was Planet Earth Sold a bit better on HD-DVD, however since the Warner announcement, PE on BD has been ahead of HD-DVD rank for 3 weeks in a row now.

Also keep in mind that HD DVD has traditionally done much better on Amazon than it has in the real world, often neck-and-neck with BD when the overall numbers showed a 2:1 BD advantage.

Additionally, as HD DVD gets scarcer at retail outlets, you'd expect more of their supporters to go to Amazon to pick up titles, so I actually wouldn't have been too surprised if the Amazon numbers didn't go down too much or even went up a little.

But they're basically plummeting. I think reality finally hit, and hit hard, for some people.

This Superbowl ad is going to be quite funny. Does Toshiba really want to waste that kind of money? Do they have time to cobble together an ad for their other products so it would actually help their sales? I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up pushing TVs or something else instead.

Yeah, all these "small" retailers announcing they are dropping software/hardware or one of the above is adding up. Also really doesnt give a person buying in a warm and fuzzy.

If one takes Planet Earth as a bell weather title, then we see:

Blu-ray: 18
HD DVD: 66

Then there is Blade Runner:

Blu-ray: 37
HD DVD: 350

Michael Clayton:

Blu-ray: 131
HD DVD: 397

And for exclusive pre-orders:

Mar 11: No Country for Old Men [Blu-ray]: 79
Feb 19: American Gangster [HD DVD]: 145
Feb 5: Across the Universe [Blu-ray]: 232
Feb 26: Beowulf (Director's Cut) [HD DVD]: 307 (!)

Instead of signing online petitions, maybe they should be buying/ordering discs?
