The Harmony 1000 is pretty rad if you got a few hundred bucks lying around to purchase merely a remote control...

Default also....

Marantz makes a couple very nice remotes, and the Pronto is a popular one as well.

The Harmony 550 is plenty. Don't know about PS3 as it uses bluetooth.

I'd go for a Logitech Harmony range remote. They range in price and features, but all use the same products database and configuration software.

I have a Harmon-Kardon TC30 which is basically a re-branded Harmony and it's perfect.

Oh, and no third party remote supports bluetooth yet, so you'll have to rely upon the PS3 BD remote or just make do with a controller as I do.

"Best" Remote is a loaded question. The Sony Bluetooth remote works great (but isn't backlit), but in the interest of having One remote to Rule them all, I got a Harmony 670 and Nyko Blu-Wave remote for the PS3 (it has a USB IR Receiver). I can live without using the remote to turn the PS3 on/off, others can't...

I do the same with a Harmony 890 remote. I could not be happier with the results.

I have the Harmony 880 remote, and it works incredibly well. Also, with a workaround it is compatible with the PS3.

Nyko makes the Blu Wave remote, which is a cheap IR remote for the PS3. Since it is infa-red, and the PS3 doesn't have an IR port, the Nyko remote comes with an IR dongle that plugs into one of the PS3's USB ports. The Harmony remotes can easily learn the commands from the Nyko remote, it only took me 5 minutes to program. Now, the Harmony remote controls all of my PS3 functions except for the PS3 button, which isn't necessary.

The Nyko remote is on sale for only $14 at Amazon.com, and it's well worth it to gain an IR port for the PS3. Now, I can control my entire system again with just one remote control.

Harmony seems to be the peoples' choice. However, if you're in the market for something high-end with complete customizable features (such as creating your own icons, macros, interfaces, etceteras) you can always try the Philips line: http://www.consumer.philips.com/cons...A_US_CONSUMER/

I like the RTI's and Home theater masters much more than the Pronto's or the Marantz's I find that they both die much too quickly and that they are kinda outdated. I like the crestron remotes as well if money really is not object. I don't get what the hype is about the harmony's imo they are over rated and really don't work very well. Plus they include way too many options buttons that most people will never need.

I have the Harmony 550 and the Nyko Blu Wave, and I'm having trouble with the direction pad in the middle. It acts like it's pressing the button several times, when I only press it once. Anyone have a similar problem?

Thanks

Go into the trouble shooting on the software. It will allow you to turn the sensitivity down.

Harmony one is a great remote. I just purchased one and it feels and looks better than my 880. I guess its time to rid the 880.

I just ordered the Harmony 890 from Amazon using the $100 off code posted by a forum member in another thread (I cannot find the link). It was $299, less the $100 discount code. Then I applied a $50 Amazon gift card that I received for Christmas. There was no tax and shipping was free. Total: $199.

I have not received it yet, so I hope it works okay. Anything will beat having six separate remotes I now have laying on the coffee table. I most look forward to programming activities on the Harmony 890 (ie: "Play Blu-ray" will turn on the blu-ray disc player, turn on the TV and select the input for the BDP, and set the AV system to the correct audio input).

Sounds like a dream come true (if it really works, that is).
