pretty standard in business dealings. no one has the cash on hand to finance a deal like that; more importantly, even if they did, no one would be insane enough to blow the cash like that.

MS can buy Yahoo outright and still have billions more. Like scragham said, it is pretty standard practice. Borrow money to finance future business instead of using your own; not because you can't afford it but because your money is better used elsewhere where it is needed.
