Default Did Universal resent Sony because of UMD?

Could it be because they were upset or mad at sony because of the UMD movie thing tanking? I was watching an older Universal DVD and i saw lots of comercials for new movies by Universal coming to DVD and UMD?

So do you guys think that maybe that's why they sided with Toshiba from the begining?

Nothing to do with UMD.

Everything to do with Microsoft.

NBC/Universal has had a long standing relationship with Microsoft that has led them to make a lot of bad decisions. HDDVD being one of them. Removing their product from the iTunes store another.

By being Microsoft's patsy, they have shown the universe how stupid they really are in business and marketing. I guess you could say they've accomplished this quite 'universally' as their company is frowned upon by Wall Street now as well.

Can't wait to see what those clowns have to say now. Ken G. and Kornblau (whatever) just shut up and release in blu-ray. BTW gives us some good encodes and not that crap that they have been releasing on most of the HD DVD titles.

he has the power, you never know, Tosh might drop HDDVD and that toolbox will hold out, could mean no high def releases from Universal fo a while.

He just seems like that kind of a peckerhead

Wow, i didn't know they were in hot water with wallstreet too. I know GE is been getting alot of flack lately because of contracts with other countries(suspicious states) and them pretty much not carring.

I work for GE and I'm not sure if this has any bearing at all, but on the nuclear side of the business which is where i work we have a joint venture with Toshiba to develop new products. Since Universal is owned by GE, that may be some of the reasons for initially going with HD DVD.

I don't want to hear sh*t from Graffeo. He has to go. Fired.

Graffeo has to go. Good chant. Has a nice ring to it.

We have a GE Turbine where i work, the other is WH the GE one makes more power, but it was a bit more expesive, something to do with a MONOBLOCK design for the turbine blades and blade stators

I hope some of higher ups at Paramount and Universal are fired over this.

Paramount the most because of the bribe.

Firing them would be doing them a favor! They always get golden parachutes even when they run the company into the dirt. CEO's must be covered with Slick 50 or something. They always land on their feet and get another job. Often a better paying one! Why their past seldom seems to follow them is beyond me.

Want to punish them? Keep them employed. Let them face the humiliation of facing their corporate peers every day knowing what a botch job they did. On the other hand, trust in their ability to lead is shot. Fire them.

Kenny Graffiti looks like a bigger ass as each day goes by (even if he's paid to look like an ass) - no wonder he's not returning calls. I just can't see Universal keeping him around for Blu-ray - but who knows.

At this moment, HD Media doesn't make enough money for them to care. A switch would be fine, but it still won't make them any "walking around money"

It (the Uni / MS relationship) is alluded to in one of the insiders thread. I think it was Maxpower's thread. Not phrased quite the same though.
