I don't have a Samsung player, but I thought I would share this. One thing that Cnet article had "right" was that while I personally don't have any issues with doing firmware updates, it certainly isn't something the masses will find easy to deal with. And when the vendor won't supply them or can't because of the hardware itself, that really muddies the waters. |

I bought the Samsung BD 1400 in December, and I have been able to watch all of my BD movies. However, The customer service stories I have read are scary. Owners of the 1200 have been neglected. Can't say I am sorry to see this. I am for the rights of the consumer!

well, I dont know about standalones. but most of my BD movies came with a piece of paper that tell me this.
