Default Australia: Universal has already deserted HD-DVD

http://www.ezydvd.com.au/promo.zml?p...v=1&himg=pr704

just a few days ago, Universal had at least 15 HD-DVD titles coming soon including Elizabeth was meant to be released in the next few weeks.

As you can see only Paramount titles are available (but for how long?).

I saw that too, whatever happened to the announcement of 20 Universal HD DVD releases for the year.

I can't wait just to walk into a Ezydvd & JB Hifi store and not see the ugly red cases next to the Superior Blu-rays. I also noticed more HD DVD on the shelves at my local Big-W simply because they arn't selling , but they reduced a row or two of Blu-ray because of it....

vs

HD DVD - http://www.ezydvd.com.au/coming.zml?...=5&mode=filter

Sweet. I keep meaning to check EzyDVD to see what they are doing. That's where I buy a lot of my movies from.

Wow just checked it out. There are like no "coming soon" movies now for HD DVD and as getblu said the titles that are "coming soon" are Paramount titles and there aren't many of them

Now EzyDVD will have to fix up their information on the two different formats where it says:

"Which Format Do I Choose?
The HD format war is reminiscent of the VHS vs Beta struggle a couple decades ago, and it is quite likely that only one technology will come out victorious. As both formats are still in their infancy, and with significant backers on either side, it is still too early to determine a successor to DVD."

Question

So i Have a question for you my tru-blu (Aussies) pals.

Where do you get your Blu-rays Discs and do you have any recommendations.
I Get the Majority of mine from the local JB-HiFi (i got a lot on B2G1F deals, but these have stopped, i think.) and some from ezydvd but they can be expensive.

Also Has anyone seen the classic "Transformers:The Movie" For Sale anywhere? (I have only seen it at amazon.co.uk)

You could always start a restraunt chain and use them as drink coasters, or give them away with happy meals.

Look out for the The McDonalds HD-DVD Factory Clearance Happy Meal.

Paramount is going to release just about enough HD DVD titles as they need to assure they keep receiving $$$ from Tosh.

Thanks, its a damn shame, that some movie companies choose to force regions upon us but at least we are not in region 4 anymore.

Lets hope that now that all movies should be available in Blu (rather then some being red in the u.s. and blu here) they might ease up with the restrictions.

I wouldn't care so much if we had a larger selection to choose from here and I'm sure this will happen as the Blu invades the old Red storage spaces at Jb and Ezydvd.

Thanks for you advice Im staring at the 5-disc blu-ray Blade Runner Release on amazon right now, Its cheaper then what we are going to pay for a 2 disc release.

Cyberpunk FTW!

i buy from JB. Though Big W is slowly getting their act together. Sanity/Virgin are too overpriced.

i rent from Quickflix. www.quickflix.com.au it has a dedicated Blu-ray library.
