Cloverfield cancelled on amazon.co.uk

Got an email from Amazon to tell me that Cloverfield was cancelled. It was listed as a BD release when infact it was HD_DVD. They went ahead and cancelled my order. I hope this gets released early this year.

This is a general comment, not necessarily at you Bullseye, but have we all not learned that all these listings of future releases on Amazon are bogus.

They like to "reserve a spot" so to speak and create the placeholder for when a film will eventually get released. Sorta like doing your homework in advance.

So, all these postings about "such and such film is up on Amazon in Blu" or "how come paramount has this movie still on amazon in HD" are a waste of time.

Have the patience, and sense, to stop wasting all the forum members time with these ridiculous posts.

When Paramount, and Universal, and George Lucas, and Spielberg, and anyone else who holds in their hands the date of a future release feel like it, they will speak up and let us know. Anythig else is rumor, especially if its on Amazon.

Hasnt Kill Bill the Ultimate Edited together Set been on there for like years, and after each release date expires they just make a new one out into the future?

The Kill Bill listings were different in that they were never listed as HD-DVDs and always BDs. Posting a thread on the matter is hardly taking a huge amount of time away from people on here when speculation is all part of the fun of this format war "which is now over"

Another reason why I posted it was that Transformers was also previously listed on both BD and HD-DVD and although Paramount switched to HD-DVD exclusive my order for the Transformers BD was never cancelled. When it came to shipping time they actually sent me the HD-DVD version, which I returned. At least this time they corrected the order.

Amazon just isn't reliable when it comes to new release info.

That's why it puzzles me that some people here treat Amazon like it's the absolute authority on Blu info.

I'm really sick of people saying they are just placeholder listings. They aren't. They may be mistakes, but Amazon's placeholder listings have an option to email you when available. They don't have a price, release date, and a button to pre-order.


That being said, I notice Amazon had takne the listing down a while ago so figured that order cancelations would be coming. I have no doubt that Cloverfield will be released on Blu on that date, or on a date close to it anyway.

Exactly this was not a placehold. They had a pre-order and shipping date. A placeholder is where they email you when it becomes available.

Anyway its hardly a matter to argue over.
