Default Trying to go 100% Blu-ray (Where did you guys dump your DVDs?)

I'm trying to go fully Blu-Ray and get rid of the 40-50 DVDs I still have. Since most of my DVDs are available on Blu-Ray I want to get rid of my DVDs and hopefully get a few bucks in return and put that into getting more BDs.

For anyone who has done this, where do you guys turn to to sell your DVDs? I've tried Craigslist, but they are not selling even at 2-3 bucks a pop. Thanks for any advice!

Newbury Comics
FYE
Gamestop

Expect average $3 each.

You may be able to do better for some stuff on ebay if you want the hassle.

I'd rather give my DVDs to friends or family rather than get $3-5 for them at max... that's what I've done so far with the DVDs I replaced with their Blu-ray version.

I only have 20 or so DVD's & saw no point in getting rid of them, & of course I 'have' or will 'get' the Blu-ray version when & if it comes out

If you have a Moviestop in your area, they do a "Four for one" deal . . . it's actually trade in four DVD's from a major studio and you get a 19.99 credit.

Their Blu-ray prices aren't that great (some are downright horrible), but it's the best deal I've found on trading in DVD's. The other thing I would warn you about is that, at least at my store, they don't seem to train their employees very well. The only person with a fully-functioning brain at mine is the manager . . . everybody else is a total idiot. I've been going there for a year, they've had the same staff and they've gained no new knowledge of ANYTHING since then. You'd think they were just dropped on a cash register yesterday.

I have a bunch of DVDs and Laserdisc I want to get rid of. Some of them are still sealed. I was thinking of trying e-bay with three or four in groups like Spielberg movies or all Harry Potter movies together. for both DVDs and Laserdisc.

I saw the comment on Gamestop, not sure if the locations in your area are the same as up here, but they stopped taking DVD trade-ins last year. I take mine to a used book store who gives me cash. I actually get more this way then I was with Gamestop or EB Games. Again though your gamestop may be different and if you have a membership card, you may get more $$ for trade ins as I use to when I could turn in, but that was also a in-store credit vs. cash.

I have a wall full of DVDs. Occassionally I've replaced one or another with a BD. In that instance I either give the DVDs to friends or family, or I sell them at the used CD store.

If you want to be nice about it, you could always donate to a library or civic group nearby.

Agreed, I made $450 selling my collection to FYE. Held on to some crap movies that they were only offering a buck for, but overall great prices.
