Default Best Place to Dump DVDs?

My co-worker is looking to get rid of 100-150 of his DVDs since he recently got a PS3. I was wondering any chains or sites online that give cash/credit for DVDs. He said he tried DVD Empire, but quite a few of his DVDs didn't even come up in the search list, presumably because they aren't taking in that title.

Good luck. I just sold the remainder of my DVDs on Ebay and was pretty disappointed with the results. I wasn't expecting a lot, but certainly more than $39 for 16 solid titles and 4 tv shows(Dexter, Seinfeld, 2 Simpsons.) I've always thought EBay was the best way to sell, but maybe I'm wrong. Interested to see if anyone else has suggestions as well.

Most dvd's aren't worth much of anything anymore. Unless he has a lot Criterion titles or rare discs, he is not going to really get much of anything for them. Ebay would probably be his best bet, or perhaps sell them as a whole lot on Craigslist.

Amazon trade-in is where I got rid of a lot of mine in exchange for Amazon credit, although not all of the DVDs will be acceptable there either. I hope your co-worker realizes he's going to get next to nothing for DVDs. I'd say most will get around $1.50-$3. He could also try selling them on Ebay in bundles of 15-20.

As others have said, the amounts are now very low for trade ins

you can try also DVD Planet or Wherehouse.com but tell him not to expect a whole lot

Unless he really needs the money (which wouldn't be much, anyway) he should consider donating them to his local library.

I traded most of my DVD's in at the Suncoast deal, where you trade in 2 titles and get to buy a blu ray for $5. Traded in 20 doing that, and got 10 nice blus for $50! The other 80 or so, i traded in and got around $90 total for them. Not really worth much anymore unfortunately.

I agree with the above posts though, group them in lots of 20ish and sell them on ebay. $1/dvd should'nt be difficult, but anything more than that likely will.

Vintage Stock gave me $0.50 for each of mine. I wasn't expecting much, but that amount is an insult. I'd rather give them away.

Last few places I tried in October were giving me .10$ or .05$ a DVD...knowing they will turn around and sell them at $15 it's a little too low IMO. I will probably just give away those I still have that will be replace to Blu.

That's pretty bad. You could have got $16 dollars alone selling Dexter on Amazon.

Amazon marketplace is the best online for getting the most money. Secondspin and Wherehouse.com give pathetic rates for dvds sometimes as low as $.10 for a movie.

Pretty low but not that surprising. DVD's don't seem to hold much value anymore, especially since blu-rays have started dropping as well.

Unless he really needs the money, I would advise him to simply give them to friends and family. Amazon might take too long to sell all of them. If he wants to get right of them all at once, he would probably get $50-$75 from a pawn shop for the lot of them.
