Default How many PS3 people are in here?

I'm new to the Blu-Ray club, I got a PS3 on launch day and have been collecting BDs pretty quickly and it's really hard for me to go back to watching regular DVDs now. I'm basically in the BD camp because of the PS3 and I'm curious to see who else in this forum started getting BDs because of the PS3.

me!

I'm more of a gamer than a movie buff. But I never had any DVD collection, so I thought might as well start now. So far I have 2 games and 15 BD movies

PS/3 here.

So far I have bought 10 movie discs, and rented three (just started a service).

I have the PS3, but my Samsung BD-P1000 handles the movie playing duties. I've been collecting discs since June, so I am up to 72 right now, soon to be at 75.

This hobby is addicting, and I hate how light it make my wallet look until I put in a BD movie and then all is well again.

Same boat as ProvenFlipper. I've got the Samsung and the PS3. Only, I'm a little shorter on the number of BD's. Only 69 titles...but hey, 69 is a good number

hyper, if you are going head to head ps3 vs sammy, is there a noticeable difference in PQ?

Honestly, if there's a difference...I certainly cannot see it. Granted, I'm only watching it on a 60" display (a damn good one too). If I had a front projector like the Pearl or Ruby projecting on a giant screen, then maybe there would be a noticeable difference.

Now load times, error-free playback, etc. is a different story. The PS3 wins hand-down. But on the basis of pure PQ, can't say that I'm seeing a difference.

Had a 360-ok, still have it-but with no HDMI support and no 1080p support I decided to go with the PS3 in the theatre room. The 360 is now in the office connected to a 30" LCD which works ok-about what the 360 is capable of anyhow.
Now have 9 games and 9 BD titles. I don't care much for consoles in terms of game play as my PC is built for that but some of these titles such as RR7 and Resistance are pretty decent.

XBOX 360 looks okay even up to now.

However....

Despite the 1080p playback support, the only way you can get it is through VGA or component. The latter is a misnomer because majority of TV sets DO NOT support 1080p via component (well maybe except Sharp but other than that, there's none). Thus you are left with VGA.

Hopefully, they look like 1080p should work probably but there are still some slight issues even after the latest firmware.

Most common is the sync-on-green issue. If they can't get that fix, then flawless 1080p is impossible if they can't VGA to work right. Plus, no HDMI support kinda cripples it as well.

I'd say that this is where the PS3 has the lead and ever since Day 1 during November, the PS3 was ahead of the X360 and with constant firmware updates, that lead will be maintained.

Now MS can pray that the ICT (Image Constraint Token) won't be activated before they move to an XBOX 720 or something. Otherwise they're DEAD........

As for me, I'm getting my PS3 on either March 2007 (the PS3 launch for other teritorries) or by Christmas 2007.

This depends on when they will release the software emulator for legacy games (because the EE+GS chip sucks). This is because of upcoming software emulator > EE+GS chip.

I do hope they release the PS1/PS2 software emulator ASAP.

72 BD Movies in your collection? There are actually that many good BD movies out?? A lot of the films coming from Sony are horrible.. Most of my favorite films tend to come from Universal and Warner, with a few from Sony and Fox but not too many. Black Hawk Down looks freakin' amazing though.

I'm both a Big time movie and game buff so I can't wait to get me a PS3 and start watching some BD movies. I started a DVD collection back when the PS2 launched and reached about 150 DVDs total. I'm hoping to once I get my ps3 to start a much bigger library of movies since DVDs are now now not even worth my time 480p?? be serious

Me! Big WipEout fan - it's why I bought PS1, PS2 and I'm also looking forward to WipEout for PS3, but the Blu-ray player was the biggest attraction to me.

High Definition makes people watch things they never would have watched before.

I can't say there are even remotely close to 72 movies I'd buy myself between both HD formats...high def. or not.

YMMV.

I have both the Sony BDP-S1 and the PS3. Three games and 27 BD movies. I only used the PS3 to watch one movie but I did noticed that the load time was much faster than the BDP-S1.
