Default will PS3 get more people into gaming?

i found this article on news.com: http://news.com.com/Let+the+PS3+game...?tag=nefd.lede

Kazuo Hirai mentions an interesting point. since alot of people are probably going to buy the ps3 for blu-ray movie functionality alone, more people might get into gaming. i'm curious if the ps3 will help tie together the (generally older) home theater crowd to the younger gaming crowd. so basically my question is, is there anyone who will purchase the ps3 primarily for movies and get into the gaming aspect because of it?

Without a doubt! That's exactly why I will be purchasing a PS3.

Ive owned both the ps and ps2. They were more for games. This time I believe the ps3 will be more for movies for me. I spend a hell of alot more time watching movies then playing games.

I'm not really a gamer, haven't been for a long time, but even I am starting to think about the PS3. I was going to get it for my son but maybe I'll get myself one too... if I can find one.

I am in that category. I plan on getting PS3 simply because it will be a cheap Blu-ray player, compared to the over kill $999 standalones that don't even have the capability to play games.

But I highly doubt that PS3 games will be any diffrent than the PS2 games i have now other than HD graphics.

That's why I plan on getting Wii first. Why?
Zelda, Metroid, Wii Sports, Red Steel, Duck Hunt Wii, Virtual Console and lots more.

Sony PS3 = Blu Ray playback, but lanch games are crud, but they alway were.

Xbox 360 = not intrested. I prefer Japanese style games, which Xbox has only a few, average or below average games.
