The Gate Blu-Ray? - Blu-ray Forum

So a special edition finaly came out on DVD for this cool 80's flick. I did not buy the DVD in hopes of a blu-ray release. So do you think it will get a blu-ray release?

They don't make them like this anymore. The FX in this flick are still great and the scene with the zombie guy that brakes apart when he hits the floor in to tons of little demons still blows me away! Still don't know how that was done?

One of my favorite horror films of all time, and totally deserves a release. Who owns the rights to it, anyway? This screams Anchor Bay.

Lionsgate own the rights. They released the 2 disc DVD. I'm sure they will release it to blu sometime like they did with Monster Squad and My Bloody Valentine '81.

I never saw it back when it came out and I watched this sometime last year. Didnt hold up to well for me. It was a trip seeing Stephen Dorff as a kid though. Got Em!!

Still no word on if there will ever be a GATE blu-ray?

I've been holding off on buying the DVD.

Love this movie. I was watching it on Netflix today and the little “HD” icon was on. That makes me wonder (if it really was in hi-def) if there’s already been a high-def transfer. Perhaps when they transferred for the special edition DVD, they did it in HD too. If so, I bet we haven’t seen the Blu-Ray yet because the remake has been in the works. They’re probably waiting until the remake is out to boost sales. I know the remake has been delayed several times, maybe the Blu-Ray has been delayed with it.

I have a recording of it off of Showtime HD, they even had it on demand in hd as well (wished I recorded that version, Showtime's on demand hd looks better than the hd on their channels, plus there's no logo in the corner).
There is a relatively recent listing for a French blu-ray, but no info other than the distributor (all other info is preliminary and not actual info, so don't trust the single audio and MPEG-2 info right now).

The distributor Rone seems to be new, I couldn't find any info about them online.

It's one of the titles I most want on the format. Lionsgate did the dvd, but they haven't been putting out budget horror titles like they were doing in 2010 with their August-September-October wave.

maybe a 2-pack with it's less than stellar, poop-filled (literally) sequel.

I'll remember this I saw it on IFC before no longer commerical-free and it scared me. I'm in for the Blu-ray
