Default 25GB BD-R, is this enough??

Hey there,
I'm a videographer looking to buy into HD and blu ray recording, though in my research it seems HDV takes up obscene amounts of space. Does anyone know how much actual HD-video you can put on a 25GB BD-R disc from a NLE system?
Thanks,
Matt

Approx 4.5 Hours (25GB) and 9 Hours (50GB) according to that link. Thats not including sound though.

Too many variables. What resolution? How are you compressing it?

If I take SD videos of Family Events (birthday parties, Christmas gatherings, etc...) and burn them onto a BD-R, will any Blu-ray player or PS3 upconvert them or would it be better just to leave them on DVD-Rs?

You could buy a 50 pack of DVD-Rs for what one BD-R would cost

Yes they will be upconverted, even if you leave them on a DVD-R. That's probably your best bet anyway
