Since I am still a newbie here I thought I would post here so here it goes. Boy did I learn a lession. Back in Febuary I bought a 32inch Vizio HD tv and being it was my first HD I was a happy camper. A close friend of mine said I made a mistake and I should have went with Samsung or Sony. Well I didnt have much cash at the time so I just went with the cheapest HD tv I could afford which was a Vizio. I didnt heed the words of my freind or those who knew alot about HD tv's and in the end they were right and I paid a price for being stupid. I had my Vizio for a month and a half when I started hearing a buzzing sound coming from the back. It wasnt very loud and at first I thought I was have interferance probs well I come home from work and what did I see when I turned the tv on? A green bar going down the screen! The tv, only a month and a half old was shot! Well I contacted Vizio and they said I had to send the tv back to them. The shipping charge? $115 dollars. No thanks. I took it back to Sears for a replacement and they didnt have any in stock and they charged me a 15% fee for re-stocking on a defective item! I had the warrentee and all that but I decided, based on reviews and my freinds advice to drop Vizio and go get a Samsung 32inch HD tv. Guys at BestBuy Circut City and even at Sears told me that if Vizio was the main tv that I would watch most to pass on it because for some reason they run into problems down the road. Alot of dealers in my area wont even work on a Vizio. So I bought a Samsung and hope I have better luck with it then I did with Vizio. I got all the warrentee's and everything just to be careful but my freind and alot of the big dealers around my area swear by Samsung, Sony and Sharp and say my tv will last alot longer then my retired and returned Vizio. Now I could have gotton a bad Vizio out of the batch but from now on I will only stick with the name brands. It was a lesson learned never to be repeated.

I've been researching for a second TV for some time. This is the same conclusion I've keep getting to. At first I thought it was only for the bedroom, but the more I read about them Sony and Samsung seem to be the way to go. Panisonic and Pioneer for Plasmas.

Yeah, I'm pretty impressed with my Samsung LN-T3242H. It's a great tv for what I paid for it. Blu-Rays look amazing on it, and so do games. I've had it for about six months now, haven't regretted it.

Now granted they are salemen and they have to make money but every sales person I have talked to have said that if your HD is going to your main tv for watching movies and so fourth then you should go with a top name brand such as Sony, Samsung and Sharp. They say Vizio does not have a long life span like they say they do. I found that out after a month and a half. I gues what it boils down to is what you can afford. Samsung and Sony are high priced HD tv's but you get good a good quality product in my book.

I know someone who ordered a vizio from Amazon or buy.com and it showed up defective, wouldn't turn on..... and he sent it back, got another, and he said it works, but it's finicky....... I don't even know what that means for a t.v. !!!!!!! he didn't elaborate!

i actually went with a 37" LG... and dont really have much to complain about. it wasnt as expensive as the better brand names, but the picture was alot better in my own opinion. since then the only other LCD's that have impressed me to the point of wanting to own one is the sony bravia line... those are some sexxy tv's

I've had the Vizio 32" LCD as our bedroom TV for over a year now, and have had no issues with it. Bought it @ Costco for $599 on sale and would highly recommend it as a bonus room/bedroom TV.
Do I think it's as good as a Sony or Samsung? No, not really. But it's great for a little 32 incher under $1k. ![]() |
