Default Converted Someone to PS3 - a lesson

So I convinced our neighbors, who are good friends, to go with the 80GB PS3 for X-Mas. It wasn't hard, the wife was leaning that way anyway. The selling point for her was that it had the blu-ray capability built in. She went 80GB after I explained to her that the 40GB wasn't BC... she, like myself and unlike many of you on here, thought that was a huge miss since her son has probably a hundred PS2 games.

I write this not to applaud myself for making a PS3/BD sale, but as a lesson to so many out there who pretend to understand the so-called "average consumer". Nothing is more arrogant than people who speak for the average consumer or J6P and tell us all what they will or won't buy or what they will or won't care about.

This woman is a basic soccer mom. While not having all the details, she was very aware of blu-ray and HD media in general. She was also very concerned about the PS3 being BC, a point many on this forum think doesn't matter. She was also willing to spend a fair amount of money on the system that was the most "future proof" as opposed to only the here & now.
