Default Completing the TV series season(s) on BD?

Why there are few TV season discs out there that did not have previous season. For example, Sopranos or Lost and Smallville season 6.. but no s1,2,3,4,5?

I mean. why would people buy season 6 on blu ray if there are no previous season available? I did not buy smallville s6 because i already have s1 to s5 on SD and brought S6 on SD.

Will we ever see lost, sopranos, smallville or other tv show season 1 to current season on bd?

At some point. There are placeholders up for a few of these for Season 1, and also shows like Six Feet Under and Sex and the City and Friends.

I'm sure they will come out eventually. I did buy the Lost Season 3 DVD because I wanted it to match my other seasons but I did but the Sopranos Season Six Part 2 on Blu-ray because I got for $33 on Ebay brand new, I couldn't pass it up.

People need to show interest in these TV Blu-ray releases so studios step it up. I have Lost s1 and 2 on DVD, but I want to eventually own them all on Blu-ray. I bought S3 on Blu-ray to help send that message (and because I enjoy it obviously) and hopefully s1 and 2 will come soon.

If you buy new seasons on DVD to "match the rest of the collection," the studios just think "Well TV sales are still poor on Blu-ray, time to cut back on that for awhile!"

Slightly OT:

It's a crying shame that The Wire (HBO), the greatest show in television history, wasn't filmed with a high enough budget for HD, much less Blu-Ray.

I'm the exact opposite of you in that I pre-ordered "Smallville" Season Six on BD (I also had S5 on HD DVD) right off. Had they held off on releasing S6, I wouldn't have bought the DVD set either... and while I want S1 on Blu-ray, I'm in no hurry for it.

While I enjoy watching "Lost" on TV, and I own S1 on DVD, I wasn't all that interested in S3 on Blu-ray, but I own it now, and I will most likely be pre-ordering S4. Since I LOVE S1 of "Lost", I might be tempted to pick it up, but otherwise, I'd prefer they stick to current seasons and go back and fill in the older seasons every now and then.

I like the TV show "Supernatural", I own S1 on DVD, I borrowed S2 from a friend since WB didn't release a Blu-ray version, and should they do the same this year, I'll boycott the DVD release as well. If the studios want my money, they'll release a Blu-ray version (which is why I'm intending on picking up "Mad Men" blind buy, and "Robin Hood" as well even though I held off on the DVD set).

If sales are good on the current sets, they probably won't wait too long before filling in the gaps. If people stick to the DVD versions, they probably won't hurry!

However, I will give you a ray of light though as Bill Hunt at The Digital Bits posted on September 10, 2007 about some upcoming HDM titles that Warner Bros. "temporarily" listed on their HDM website about some upcoming Blu-ray/HD DVD titles. While one should take that list with a grain of salt ("The Feast Of Love" was an MGM... at least the new one was), but quite a few has now been released or announced, and three titles listed are TV releases. One is the first season of "Friends", the second is the first season of "Smallville", and the third is the seventh season of "The West Wing".

Now it doesn't announce any time frame for season one of "Smallville", but Bill Hunt posted at The Digital Bits on February 6, 2008 about WB's plans for this year, in which they announced that the 3rd quarter of this year would focus on "85 Years Of Superheroes" and would feature "Batman Begins", a "Batman Anthology" (with the four previous Batman films), and we now know that "Batman: Gotham Knight" on Blu-ray will be included in that list as well. WB has also announced "Witchblade: The Complete Series" and "Birds Of Prey: The Complete Series" for DVD as well, so I wouldn't be surprised to see S1 of "Smallville" on Blu-ray sometime in that 3Q time period as well.

Slightly off-topic, but if I were WB, I'd schedule "The Adventures Of Robin Hood" on the same day as BBC's "Robin Hood: Season One"... but again, I'm off-topic.

I did my part by purchasing Lost: Season 3 on Blu-ray right away. The powers that be at Lost are great at listening to fans and presenting the best show possible. I'm confident that they will turn 1 & 2 Blu if seasons 3 & 4 sell well. I already had seasons 1 & 2 on DVD, but didn't feel compelled to buy #3 on DVD just so they would match. I bought the better product. Generally, I rarely double dip (only on HP so far) but I would double dip without hesitation when seasons 1 & 2 are released on Blu-ray.

I agree with OP; they should really release the seasons in order. There are quite a few television shows I would like to see on Blu.
