Default Star Trek Original Series Season 1 $89.99 at BB in Canada

Seems like a decent price compared to amazon.ca which has it for $112. Future Shop seems to have it for 89.99 as well.

http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...65&catid=24103

I may hold out for lower but not sure yet.

Edit - I guess there are 2 entries on amazon.ca and one is actually only $87. Strangeness.

Nice.. Not too bad 89$ is better than 150$ for the HD DVD with missing original stuff

I think it the cheapest boxset made so far 7 disc and 89$. Usually LOST Is 6 disc is the same price.. or more...

I mean the DVD is 69.99$ normally so it's 20$ more for 1080p, DTS HD 7.1 sound that have a lot of praise for an old series etc...

Lost, the fourth season is only $52.99 at Amazon.ca. Pre-orders for the first and second seasons are going for $62.95 right now. That's a difference of almost $30 not including the taxes.

I'll say $89 is still a lot to ask for a TV show on Blu-ray. Especially when it's a 40 years old TV show. I know it was remastered and had new special effects made to replace the old ones.

$150 was a lot to ask for in the first place. $89 is still a lot to ask for a TV show on Blu-ray. Sorry, but I think it isn't the right price.

Star Trek was awfully expensive on DVD back then as well.

Lost S4 have 13 EP (or 14EP). Star Trek have what 24-27? not sure. I don't know about amazon.ca, but locally Lost S3 is 89.99$ everywhere and it's the price i've paid on release.

I mean FOX first TV series on DVD were 125$CAD (X Files)...

People want old Tv series on Blu-ray, but don't want to pay for them because they are 'OLD' well they've remaster it, added new background and CGI (a la star wars) etc.. , re-recorded some of the score using the original music sheet etc... Most Sci Fi show from the 70/80 would have to be redone otherwise they would look like crap because most of them were edited on tape (and most of them kept the 35mm film element). IMHO it's not normal for Star trek to look better on Blu-ray than the Blu-ray of Chuck for example...

Weed is a great example of Cheap TV serie on Blu-ray but it's a mile away of being the best looking (tons of digital noise everywhere), but it's cheap and a well done package.

I mean battlestar will probably cost 299$CAD (4 seasons). It's a lot of money in one shot that most people i know won't forge out..

Lost - Season 3 is an older Blu-ray release, they haven't really dropped the price. It's around $80 at most places I've been to. However, now that the other seasons (season 1 and 2) are coming to Blu-ray, they are varying between $60 to $75 each and they have far more episodes than the fourth season.

Besides, the X-Files TV series on DVD was overpriced considering the poor quality they were in. Heck, even if the quality was top-notch, it was still too much back then. I'll just wait until they drop the price. I'm not going to pay that much for a TV show. Even if it's a brand new TV show.

I'm a patient man. I can wait since I'll rather spend my money wisely.

Weed looked fairly good in bright-lit scenes, but the dark scenes were quite noisy. Especially in the first season. They've improved since then.

Actually, Lionsgate (Maple) is more reasonably priced compared to its competitors for new releases on Blu-ray. You can get new releases from them for $23 to $27 most of the times on day one. I was surprised to see that Summit Entertainment released Twilight at such a low price. It was $19.99 for a couple weeks at some places, it's now $25 at several places.

The specs seem screwed up to me.

Number of Discs: 1-Disc
Aspect Ratio: Widescreen
Audio:
Dolby Digital - French
Subtitles:
Additional Release Material:
Interactive Features:
Scene Access
Interactive Menus

So 1 disc and I don't know about you but I've never seen Stark trek TOS in "Widescreen" before.
