Default Star Trek Original Series Season 1 $79.99 at BB in Canada

Sorry for starting a new thread but since the price is 79.99$ according to the this morning flyer it make it a great deal for a 7 BD50 Season on Blu-ray. It come about for the same price as ordering iit from Amazon.com at 55$US (with shipping and taxes fee)

Btw it was Futureshop..

I just checked BB's online flyer and don't see any mention of it. Futureshop on the other hand does have it in their flyer for $79.99. Was hoping for some kind of neat extra exclusive item at either of the stores. Neither of them mentions the movie box sets sadly.

You obiously never saw it or the dvdbeaver comparison and with this attutide i can understand why CE are not interested in doing vintage teleseries on Blu-ray... Shame..

I'll be picking this set up...the reviews have been nothing but positive for this classic series. Of course it's 4:3, that's how it was broadcast - I can't wait to see it in 1080p.

So far FS does seem to have the best price...but I am still hopeful of a lower price somehow.

I had no plans to rush out and buy this, even after reading Bill Hunt's review, but then I saw this.

I think I just changed my mind

I don't like watching content on my 16:9 HDTV in 4:3 aspect with side bars (and i'm sure i'm not the only one) thats the shame it couldn't be somehow remastered and cropped for 16:9 without distorting the image but i know thats not feasible
DAMMIT JIM!!!!!

Yeah - that would be the equivalent of taking a widescreen movie and making it 4:3 (like pan-and-scan dvds). You'd lose original filmed content, except in this case it would be the horizontal portion (top and bottom) of the original that would be cropped rather than the vertical portions (sides) like in pan-and-scan.

Back in the 4:3 only TV days I always insisted on getting the widescreen versions of laserdics/dvds even though it produced black bars...I wanted to see all of the original content. Same case here...I can't wait for this release!

More than 90% of tv show ever where produced in 4x3. It's only since 1999,2000 that tv show in NA are mostly 16x9. So it's 4x3 all the way. I have a 106 inch screen so 2 black bars doesn't really change anything for me so..

It's the same thing that people that doesn't like 2.35:1 because of the bar and they zoom. You can zoom 4x3 to you're screen too! off course top of head will be cut!

I'm with you but most high def tv's have the option to "stretch" the image to fill the screen without sacrificng the picture too much.

I'm still going to get this since there aern't that many tv shows on Blu to begin with and the transfers look amazing!

i'm a huge star trek fan, but i dont think this is gonna be worth my while investing in. liked TOS but not my fav amongst them all. only one i think i'll be picking up on blu when its released is Enterprise. plus with this while 4:3 cousion, just makes me wanna get it less. why pay so much for pic quality when your watching black bars on the side. for that price, one should have to zoom and mess with the pic to enjoy it. silly imo

If it had the Director Cuts I'd pick it up too. But I figure it's only a matter of time before they get a re-release.

You can pick it up now (for delivery only) with the customer appreciation sale for only $67.99 from Future Shop.

Edit: Not anymore, they fixed that fast.

Well you can still get it shipped for that price if you pay $2 for the shipping. I doubt I can drive to FS for $2. I think i'm still going to pass and buy the Motion Picture collection in a few weeks instead. Maybe i'll pick up season 1 later.

Yeah, I just ordered and paid the shipping.

Shame as there is a FS about 2 minutes walk from here.

Great price though. I doubt we will find it cheaper for a long time.
