PS3 games are 720p right?

i have the sony XBR 4
when i play blu rays it says 1080p24 when i play ps3 its 720? just checking if thats how the games are? thanks

Yes all games run in 720p. I'm pretty sure somebody that knows more than me will tell you more about it.

Not all games are 720p.

Alot of games are 1080i, and i beleive theres a few that are 1080p.
LAIR was 1080p with uncompressed 7.1 surround sound. And that game was amazing gameplay wise in my opinion.

Some are 720p and some are 1080p. I haven't seen any statistics on how many games use 720p and how many use 1080p but from what I've seen with the games I own, 720p seems to be more prevalent.

Edit: Looks like some list 1080i as well.

No, you are correct. I have seen several titles that are 1080p, but most are 720p

Gran Turismo is 1080p.

Wait a sec. I know games you get on PSN run in 1080, but I really haven't seen games that come to disc run in 1080. Most of what I've seen runs in 720. I know I'm a little tired and can't think straight, but can you please tell me which games are running in 1080. Thanks

Well, all my info was from that link - and if its wrong then i guess im wrong.
I was wondering why "The Darkness" was there as 1080p yet it says 720p on the box.

...And the fact that there is some 360 ports on there.
...And the fact that LAIR isnt on there.
Oh well. I guess im an idiot for not noticing that. Sorry!

I got mlb 08 the show. My t.v is putting it out at 720p even though the box says 1080. A few of my other games are like that to. Harry Potter, Drake, Assassions Creed. My Blu-ray movies show up as 1080p on my t.v. That's why I really asked the question.

Uncharted is 720p only, and I highly dought that Assasins Creed is 1080p since its a 360 port. No idea about Harry Potter - although the demo was 720p.

If this is a 360 your playing, theres only one game out for 360 that is Native 1080p (Virtua Tennis). The rest are all upscaled.
Of course, Uncharted was on that list... so you cant be playing it on a 360.

Im positive Uncharted said 720p on the box though. I remember checking that. I let my friend borrow it at the moment, so i dont have it to check again though. Sorry.

Below are some of the ones that I have that list 1080p.

Some, like Virtua Tennis 3, only list 1080p as the supported resolution. Some of the others list 720p, 1080i and 1080p. For those that list multiple resolutions, does it natively render in each of those resolutions or are some upscaled. I'm not sure.

If you've got 720p and 1080i/p ticked nearly all games with 1080 upscaling support will default to 720p because they perform better at their native resolution without the extra work upscaling.

Uncharted is 720p native with 1080i/p upscaling.
