Angry GTA4 Censored in Australia!!!

Reports are coming in that The Aussie Version of Grand theft auto 4 is being censored to meet our pathetic 15+ rating . Therefore the decision has been made for me to import the ps3 version from the usa (since all ps3 games are region free!!!! yay, go ps3) I refuse to buy a watered down version of the most anticipated game of 2008. It just angeres me that we dont have an R rating for games in Australia, anyway, I just placed my order at burn.com.au, GOD BLESS THE PS3 AND ITS REGION FREE GOODNESS!!!!!!

That's gay!!! You should move you and your family to the USA. That way you won't have to worry about the censored versions. Plus you'll have more convenience to PS3 games rather than importing.

Yes it does suck that the Aussie version is watered down. But both the British and Australian parliments are very traditional in their ways, and I don't see this changing anytime soon. They should do what we do in America and that is have it to where you have the uncensored game, but have to show ID to show you are of age to buy said game.

First, you guys have those terrifying koala bears to worry about, and now this, you should really think about moving.

Or at least, import the US version, and buy a pokin stick, for the bears.

From what I've been told, video games cost a fortune in Oz anyway (~$110 AUD or so, no?).

With exchange rates the way they are, it will probably cost you less to import the US version than to buy local.

britain has an 18 plus age group and only 2 games have been banned in PS1-PS3 lifetime. And we all know Australia hates GTA, GTA III got completly banned didn't it.

BAD TREND .this is very bad news for me . there is a lot of silly accusations to games mostly by mp's (there is no parliament on the surface of earth that is worth its expenses ).

are the white ,off white /other consoles region free also?

love kualas

I was going to say that it was ironic that a country started as a penal colony was censoring its games, but i did a little reading because i wasnt sure if i was right, and found that it wasnt all settled that way so i guess its not as ironic.

but still, most of the world is usually a little more lenient on these things (nudity, violence, etc.) than the US is.

GTA 3 was'nt banned but i believe there was a mission that was taken out of the Aussie release.

Man Hunt 1 and 2 are banned here though.

You can't live in such a great place AND get the games ! I'd rather live in Australia and be condemned to play "Pacman versus Fatso" on Gameboy color

I was importing the collectors edition anyways cause the Aussie version for 1 has sold out and 2 its $150 so even with shipping costs it will be much cheaper
Importing is the way to go people for too long we've been ripped off

I was at Fona2000 yesterday, big electonic store in Denmark. I saw two boys (brothers), ages 10 & 12. They were both getting GTA San Andreas for PC (20 US$) and they were with their mother. Now I was waiting for the sales guy to come back with a new transformer for my laptop (20 mins). I was pretty bored, by that time, so I decided to ask the mother if she knew what kind of a game it was. She did not care..... I didn't really care either, but 10 & 12 years old is just slightly on side, where I would draw the line. The missions where you have to date and such. All I know is I can't wait for April 29th..........
