Wink I put deep red lights behind my XBR5

My walls are texured blood red. I found DEEP red strip lights and mounted them about 2 inchs behind the clear border of the edge. Im bored so let me tell you more. The first big screen i had was a hitachi ultravision. It ate up alot of room. so i inverted it into the wall.By ripping a spare room wall out and redoing it. Gave me a 4 and a half space. So my speakers towers and everything else you cant see behind sheer black curtains. I made a very small base for the center with straight brackets so under the lcd it looks like the center is floating. The switch for the lighting is behind curtains. At night it makes the movies jump right out in your face.Sony should put this affect on there models. Trust me this looks great.

Should be yellow. the eye picks up a wider color spectrum if you backlight in yellow.

I would have to say that this may negatively affect the accurate perception of color on the screen. I remember reading a review of the ambilight TV in either Sound&Vision or PerfectVision magazines and they did not have anything good to say about the colored lights. For color accuracy the ambience light should be a D6500(same color of light as the TV should be calibrated to) colored bulb behind the TV.

I think that would be really cool although if i did something like that id use it as an accent while the tv is either off or if you could set it up so that the lights come on as the movie is starting then off again then on again after the movie is over.

You could've just bought a Philips Ambilight tv like me and had all sort of different color options to put behind your tv.

Might "look" great but using a colored light or for that matter, strongly colored walls are going to bias your color perception of the picture on your screen.

As mentioned before, the correct lighting is always a neutral light source, ideally at D6500, behind a "light projecting" display.
