Default Situation in Estonia

I will start with the fact that HDM market is very very very extremely small in Estonia, BUT:

I've visited some stores lately and I have seen:

Some stores have started selling Blu-Ray movies. Selection was quite small (Die Hards, Eragon, X-Men, The Simpsons Movie, Speed, etc.). Didn't see any HD DVD movies, 'tho some of my mates have seen them.
Some stores have started selling music Blu-Rays. Selection was quite small (Elton John, NIN, Incubus John Legend, ABBA, etc.). Saw only one HD DVD - NIN.

Some stores have started selling standalone Blu-Ray players (BDPS300, etc.). I have not seen any standalone HDDVD player here.

Some stores have started selling Blu-Ray devices/burners and blank discs for PC's. I have not seen anything like that for HD DVD and only player I have seen is addon for X360.

And: Sony has put estonian subtitles for some of the UK releases lately. Also some other European releases have estonian subtitles. I have not seen any HD DVD with those.

So if you ask me, Estonian retailers prefer Blu-Ray over HD DVD.

Estonia may be a small market, but it's a very hi-tech country and the economy is skyrocketing. So this market can generate comparatively strong sales.

Skype was born in your homeland, wasn't it?

Estonia is definitely one of the countries I'm planning to visit.

Estonia also has to make sure that hackers don't take down their network infrastructure again . Go Blu in Estonia!

Sounds good!
Btw, I want get ABBA blu-ray. Why not here in U.S.? Looks like selection is larger in music titles in Estonia or Europe (Isn't Estonia in Europe?).

As a late answer to your questions:
Yes, Estonia is country in North-East Europe.

Skype was developed by Swedish/Danish company but some of the main developers of it were Estonians and Skype has two offices in Estonia.

And something about the prices:
All those Blu-Ray movies I saw had very reasonable price tag's. They were only 290.- EEK, thats about £14 GBP or $27 USD or €19 EUR. I'm not sure if it was a mistake or christmas sale but I think it is quite cheap.

UPDATE!

Selection of available releases is growing. Most of them are UK releases (no estonian releases, yet) but still with cheap price tag about $29USD.

There's an good offer at the moment: buy Samsung 1080p LCD TV and get Samsung Blu-ray player for free. Don't know the exact models.

And one local DVD pressing factory is getting ready to start producing Blu-ray soon!

That was "Freedonia" completely fictional... and it was Duck Soup not Animal Crackers.
