Default Xbox vs PS3 (marketing subpar?)

I've always thought that the marketing skills were severely lacking when it came to both microsoft and sony...

For Example: How many of you would have bought the system at launch if?

Xbox360

Built in HD-DVD player
HDMI Ready
Halo and Halo 2 preinstalled on Hard Drive
Halo 3 and Gears of War available at Launch
Star Wars Trilogy and Lord of the Rings Trilogy available on HD-DVD at the Systems Launch

PS3

God of War and MGS 2 preinstalled on Hard Drive
Bluetooth Headset comes with system
God of War 3 and MGS 4 available at Launch

and had you said yes to the xbox 360 scenario would you still even care about bluray?

who in the hell wants to see 50 first dates and phantom of the opera in 1080p?? where is Saving Private Ryan and Star Wars? The men convince the wives and the girlfriends to buy new technologies do they not?

Microsoft and Sony are throwing jabs like Glass Joe instead of uppercuts like Mike Tyson.....

And lets be Honest Guys you and I both know that if money was not an issue you would own both of them would you not?

Just my opinions

I Got my PS3 at launch. Would'nt have made any difference if both consoles had that on Launch. I was ready to buy 2 PS3s on launch but was told that since the game stop was given only 17 that only 1 PS3 per house was allowed. GRRR!

if it was just to have them, that's a shame.

if it was to sell them on ebay at an escalated price than you got much better than what you deserve.

exactly. huge exclusives aren't needed to sell systems at launch. hardcore games will buy at launch no matter what

The PS3 marketing as of late has been terrific. I love what Sony is soing with its promotional partnership with Blockbuster.

I want to see Phantom of the Opera in 1080p. In fact I've watched my Blu-Ray copy of the movie a countless amount of times.

Also money is not an issue at all for me, but I don't feel compelled to buy a Xbox360. Between my Wii and PS3, over half of my games which total over 100 haven't been played because there simply are not enough hours in a day.

how is this about marketing?

this is about putting more sh1t into the consoles.

marketing would be like saying, Sony has crappy ideas like, "this is living," and MS doesn't stress their exclusives enough. Thats marketting, not Star Wars should have been ready at HD DVD launch (even though Fox was blu exclusive), thats just wishful thinking on behalf of MS.

and no offense to the OP, but everything besides an HDMI ready Xbox 360 and BT headseat included with the PS3 is a dumb idea and would never happen outside of fantasy land.

uhh no.. money is not an issue. Microsoft products are terrible.. I have many friends who have both ps3 and xbox.. and love both the gameplay equally, but they all complain about what a POS the xbox truly is. The quality of the games is not an issue. Xbox has some really fun games, it's the piece of junk the game has to sit inside thats the issue.

Im not joking and whats sad is that it's not out of the ordinary. EVERY friend I have that owns an Xbox has had it die on them at least 3 times..we're talking at least 7 people. One of them 4 times and one 6 times and STILL waiting a month later on a replacement for the last time it crashed and burned.

They have all said if it wasn't for Microsoft's willingness to send them new or refurbs that they would have taken a baseball bat to them and given up on Xbox alltogether long ago.

PS3 has it's small share of death problems like all consoles but nowhere, and I mean NOWHERE near the ridiculous numbers of Xbox.

I own 2 PS3's, one for over a year the other for 4 months and have never had a probelm with either of them. I will happily go to my friends house to play Halo, Gears of War or Bioshock but I personally wouldn't spend a penny of my own money to buy an XBOX.

LOL, nice one.

Looking back at console launches, only the SNES had a really solid hit included with the system with Super Mario World.

It is unfortunate that Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony don't time their big name games to be included with their systems at launch.

However, I bought my PS3 near launch for games that would come out later, mainly FF13.

First they wouldnt releese a god game the first day the system is out. PERIOD. Halo 3 was released a good year and some later. Why more consoles. 5 million wouldnt go out and buy the console right away for that game. Same for MGS they save money and then buy etc. Also having a Bluetooth is a reason why everyone hates the PS3. Barely anyone talks.. Or so they say. Thats another bad marketing factor. Should be mandatory.
