Default What happened to Sony marketing of PS3???

I just don't get it........last night I downloaded 3 demos....uncharted, ratchet and clank, and timeshift....all incredible. Earlier, I watched a blu-ray movie that was amazing.

I don't own the 360, I do own the Wii (which really is the best "family" platform...my young children love it)....the PS3 just seems to be a mind blowing system with limitless (almost) capabilities for today.

Personally, I'm just blown away and am so happy with my purchase.

Why did this message not translate to the millions of Americans out there

Someone in Sony marketing needs to be shot! I understand they priced themselves too high and there were issues with new games...I just don't understand how they missed the big picture. How do you go from having the PS2 to last place

Anybody have any thoughts as to all of the miss-steps???

Chill out.

The PS3 is selling just as well as the Xbox360 in its first year after roll-out.

BD is not format on the losing end of the format war.

Panicky, negative posts so early in your post history will get loads of people jumping down your throat.

Patience.

Hey......I'm cool

It's just confusing with all of the hype, media, forums, etc. out there. I'm not trying to be negative.........I'm all blu and want the format to do well. It just seems to me the PS3 is such an amazing platform it would blow away all the competition. Plus, it's an amazing blu-ray player.

I did have one thought....I think they should have included the blu-ray video remote control in all of the PS3 packages (+ a free movie like they did with spiderman). This would have made it even more apparent this was much more than a gaming system.....hopefully, spurring blu-ray movie sales. I understand they need to make money as they are taking losses with the hardware right now. I just think this may have fired up the consumer a little more

It is horribly confusing and chaotic. I try to deal with it by sticking to what directly affects me. I've made my choice and bought my player, so the more than 90% of the hypothetical discussions on this forum have no direct impact on my HDM experience. I can't do the BDA's job and wouldn't have the faintest idea where to begin second-guessing them, especially since they seem to be in the catbird seat so far. I can't do anything about Toshiba. I can write letters to studios, which process I have begun...mostly, though, I figure my job is to buy & enjoy my movies and let others know what a satisfied customer I am. That's not too hard. Wish it paid more...

The PS3 is still in it's infancy, the list of games will grow and with Blu being the eventual winner the PS3 and Blu players will become the next revolution.

We are just all early developers.

Its the same as when PS2 came out.... not alot of games because the machine was hard to program for.... Blah, blah, blah...... Everyone said BOX was going to kill PS2 and what happened... PS2 went on to sell 114 million worldwide. Have patience those 114 million will be come to PS3 eventually.

I do know that the PS3 is being heavily promoted with the new 399 price point on TV. They just launched some really slick commercials showcasing exclusive games, and some versions showcasing Blu-Ray movies. I can barely turn on the TV without seeing at least one of them.

I just saw a new commercial on tv last night for the PS3. What's even better is that it has a huge Blu-ray logo at the very beginning of it and says that it comes with Spiderman 3 on BD. I think they are doing fine, the Playstation series has a reputation of its own that will take off when the price is right. It is starting to now that the 40GB is $399.

I think SONY was looking at the bigger picture.
If not the PS3 would have been a half-step just like the XBOX and HD-DUD.

So any shortcoming now should ensure long term success in both their gaming and movie divisions.

Seems to me like the other side has the problem. The Sony is doing much better with the PS3, and it takes time to build up steam, the 360 has been out for over a year before the PS3, what do you expect?

The PS3 had a slow start, but that was mostly due to a lack of great game titles. Lair was a disappointment, etc. Also, it was priced too high for the average person. Now the price is right and there are TERRIFIC gaming options as well (GH3, Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, Rachet and Clank, etc). The sales through 2008 and even the 2007 holiday season will be phenominal.
