Ps3 in demostration mode - Blu-ray Forum

My coworker being a cheap skate that he is bought a ps3 on ebay but he says he has to enter a code to either update the firmware or play again but cant log into the ps store or online play. Anyone know what the hell he bought? and if theres any way to unlock it out of demo mode lol.

It's probably still locked to the old owner is my only guess.

They might have put some passwords on all their user accounts and didn't reformat the system before selling it or something.

He should be able to either a) find a way to do a full system restore without logging in or b) just swap the harddrive or something (maybe erase it another way).

There's no doubt he'll need a firmware update; however, given that a new one just dropped yesterday.

I think he bought a used store kiosk ps3 in demo mode, he has to enter a password to enter the ps3 its not even a user id. He did do a format so i think its the motherboard, maybe a flash. Im try getting him to take it over to my house this weekend to further investigate this lol.

you can find the codes on google, hopefully it was recently updated..

This guy is something, just another reason to rip him up now lol I think hes just going bite the bullet and buy a retail ps3 and use the demo as a bd player since its all its good for lol it wont let you go online or play games for more than 30 minutes lol.

Yes there is are demo PS3's and they can be unlocked, you just need the unlock code, they are easy to find, just input, and it becomes regular PS3, easy way to get cheap PS3
