Default Anyone else refuse to buy another movie on DVD?

I can say with certainty that I will never buy another DVD movie. Non HD television shows perhaps... but despite how much I would really like to own some movies that aren't available on BD yet, I'm going to be patient and wait it out. With DVD I never went too crazy when it came to buying movies anyway, I have a relatively small collection, but with BD I feel like I can't find enough to buy haha God I love this format.

Can't say I feel the same - I recently threw down for the LOTR Extended Editions (love that DTS sound) - since I know we aren't getting the EEs when the Blu-rays come out.

And I couldn't resist the DTS special editions of the first two Jurassic Park movies, those roars now sound all the more powerful. And $10 for both? I can't pass that up!

But that's about it - if its a DVD I want to see, I will netflix it.

Although I am not an ardent DVD hater like some of the fellows on this forum.

Some movies I want or like will (likely) never be out on Blu-ray, so DVD is a perfectly acceptable alternative in that situation. Ultimately I don't believe that expressing a preference to one format should preclude me from enjoying films I love on another.

I'm waiting until someone comes along who will say "By still supporting DVDs you are withholding the prominent emergence of Blu-ray."

or the ever classic

"I can't watch DVDs anymore!!!! THey sux0rz!!"

Did I say anything about that?

I said "I know" as in it is my firm belief that we'll get the ol' doubledy-dippety with those.

While I know you were exaggerating, I DO find it a little hard to watch DVD's after going Blu. They're fine and all, but that's just it, they're fine. Nothing special. Watching Blu-Ray's is exciting to me.

Oh yeah, of course, I should add this explanation to my post, you nailed it on the head.

You see that is what I don't undertand. Those DVDs where released years ago (2004 if I remember correctly). You are saying how important it is to have the EE but you had 4 years to buy them and you did not. I find it hard to beleive they where that important to you when you just bought them resently. But now all of a sudden you must have them.

Ah, simple explanation, Anthony!

I didn't get into movies until about 18 months ago. I was given the LOTR regular editions (fullscreen) as gifts. They held me over for some time, until I realized I was missing out by having the FS versions. Then I got into Blu-ray and put that goal in the back of my mind. But I never got around to buying them until now, a few weeks ago. And I figured, if I'm buying the widescreens, why not get the extendeds while I'm at it? Favorite movies of mine, why not have the best version available now when I have the means to enjoy them? With the special features included, and the DTS sound and the fantastic collectable boxes?

Four years ago I lived in my parents home and was still a punk freshman in college! With a 32" Sony CRT that weighs more than both of us combined!

I have not purchased a DVD since Nov 06. It's been a Blu world for me ever since that time. I can't go back now.
