Why does Warner Bros. refuse to have better audio?

I just don't get it. Don't get me wrong, I am glad that WB is still faithful to Blu-ray and all, but why do they refuse to use any of the higher resolution audio codec's? It seems that every movie, if not almost all of them, they are just being lazy in their implementation of lossless audio, or lack thereof. Take for example their newest offering, and most recent theatrical release, Oceans Thirteen. Again no lossless audio and just a basic DD track. I can only hope Harry Potter has some sort of lossless audio, because if it doesn't this will not do the movie any justice. I hope WB figures this out and puts lossless audio on these films before it is too late.

Is there a reason behind all of their madness?

I wonder if it comes down to them being neutral and being too lazy to do two seperate takes of the movie release. Therefore they use the take of the hd dud version, which has less space to play around with than Blu-ray, and just put it on the Blu-ray to save time. Just my take on it.

Not if you use PCM.

PCM is free.

I have an opinion besides PCM is free ,Look at all releases so far done by Warner.All BD got PCM or DolbyTHD at least DolbyTHD exists on its counterpart.

I will be surprised if these big titles actually come out without PCM or TrueHD.

I thnk Warner's press site is not up to date.

PCM is the format they push into their DD or DD+ or TrueHD encoders. It takes a studio less time/money to support LPCM than anything else.

i guess the only solution you/we have, is to send warner an e-mail/mail. Requesting better audio/sorround sound deliverd. BD can deliver more, but i am thinking that warner might have a feeling that they are delivering what their customers want.

they keep saying they want to give their customers what they want, but what they really do is deliver the bare minimum of what people want. most people don't have hdmi receivers or even receivers to handle uncompressed audio via optical my parents hd the same damn receiver for almost 10 years, so I gave them my old onkyo (2 years old) to use when I got my new sr605. I went over there and they had it hooked up with the rca plugs! I gave them my old overpriced monster cable optical cable as well. so maybe warner bros. isn't crazy with just offering DD, but they want to offer the bare minimum of what their customers want. hell i'll still buy them. I might ***** about it, but I still buy them.

what i am trying to say, that they are under the wrong impression. that they delivering what the customer want. it would be a good idea to send them a letter/email. explaining that we want better transfer.

I understand, but most people aren't like us who know what the F our systems can do (case and point my parents) so until the majority of people understand what pcm, truehd, dtshd is they will probably go with what's cheapest and easiest to understand. I don't like it, but I can't blame them.

that's not to say I discourage writing warner and telling them what asshats they are.

Warner has been putting PCM on virtually all of their newer releases

From what I have seen of more recent Warner release, such as the Departed and 300, they almost all seem to include PCM 5.1 audio.
