I was looking through some CD's or something like that, I saw the Bible on CD read by James Earl Jones. I couldn't help myself from thinking, "Lord Vader reads the Bible."
I couldn't help but think of the temptation of Christ in Matthew. Satan walked up to Jesus and said, "If you only knew the power of the darkside." |

Comments: 0 For fans of nature and wildlife documentaries like the Blu-ray Disc edition of "Planet Earth" and the Walt Disney Legacy Collection of "True-Life Adventures," Disney's announcement on Monday that the studio is reviving its nature documentary series under the name of Disneynature is welcome news for the high-def world. I am probably the last writer on the planet to record my praise for the incredible achievement that is "Planet Earth." And Warner Home Video's stunning Blu-ray presentation of the entire 11-part series is surely the showcase / demonstration disc for anyone with high-def. Even moreso than the riveting "March of the Penguins," "Planet Earth" is the epitome of superb nature documentary filmmaking. Every aspect is perfection, from the spectacular cinematography that is eye-popping on my Panasonic 65-inch plasma display, to the fascinating and riveting information that is presented so engagingly by narrator David Attenborough ("Blue Planet"). Attenborough has long followed in the tradition of great Disney movie narrators like Winston Hibler ("Seal Island," "The Living Desert," "The Vanishing Prairie," "Perri") and Rex Allen ("Charlie the Lonesome Cougar," "The Incredible Journey," "The Legend of Lobo"). Hibler's narration can be even more thoroughly enjoyed again and heard by new generations for the first time on Disney's amazing four-volume DVD collection of the True-Life Adventure series of the 1950s - 1970s, which set the stage for everything from "Blue Planet" and "Planet Earth" to The Discovery Channel. Not only do the restored feature films and related shorts look great when upconverted on a Blu-ray player (they will look even better if they are released on Blu-ray Discs), but they are loaded with hours of bonus features on each disc, including fascinating original behind-the-scenes filmmaking footage -- the kind that made the making-of documentary on "March of the Penguins" as entertaining as the movie itself -- as well as introductions and fascinating remembrances by Roy Disney, who was intimately involved in the editing and other aspects of the True-Life Adventures series. Roy Disney also takes viewers of each of the True-Life DVDs to the company's Animal Kingdom theme park in Florida for visits with trainers and live animals. It's that kind of synergy that Disney is planning to capitalize on when it launches Disneynature (hopefully moreso and more successfully than its last effort to revive nature documentaries with its short-lived "New True-Life Adventures" educational TV series in 2000). Disney has signed "Planet Earth" producer-director Alastair Fothergill to a multi-picture deal with Disneynature, the first of which will be "Earth" for BBC Worldwide and Greenlight Media. It was filmed while making "Planet Earth" and will be narrated by James Earl Jones ![]() ![]() The best news in this is that it means an additional steady stream of visually dynamic nature films that we will enjoy to the fullest in Blu-ray high-def. In the meantime, if you are just getting your first Blu-ray player, one of your first purchases must be Warner's four-disc "Planet Earth: The Complete Series."
