Default Are you less careful with your BDs due to the protective coating?

Do you take less care or more care of your blu-rays? I find myself being a little more sloppy with my BDs because of the protective coating, others though might see them as expensive and handle them very carefully, just curious.

The protection coating is an insurance in case of an accident, but it should be be counted upon to prevent problems caused by neglect.

I take really good care of them, but I did the same with my DVDs. I don't throw my discs around even knowing they have the extra protective layer.

I treat them just like I treated my DvD's and CD's.

I never touch the surface or place them down on the surface.

Other then that, I have always found all three formats to be quite rigid and resilient.

Also...just an aside...I have one of those really thin cd Jewel boxes near my player as a halfway house if I need to put a disc down. Rather then throw those things out, I use them for that.

I'm very careful with all my discs, CD's, DVD's, and BD's...no finger prints and try not to scratch them. When I rent I've got a disc cleaner to get all the finger prints off and compressed air for hair and lent.

No drops. No scratches. I treat them each as if they were a 1,000$

I handle them the same as I do CDs and DVDs, which is very carefully. I wish more Netflix renters would do the same...

I actually take MORE care of them, 'cause they cost more. Where's that option on the poll?

I chose less care, but it's not so significant as throwing it around and letting my dog use it as a toy. It's more of I don't sweat if it has been lying around. I do take care of them very well, I just tend to be a bit careful of DVDs because a scratch may mean a skip.

Treat them like they are make of gold ! Never "let" anyone even get close to the blu's.

I take a little better care of them then my DVDs. If I scratch up a 5 dollar DVD, I'm not too worried, because chances are good it was a one time movie anyway. I'm a lot more selective now with Blu so I make sure it comes out the player, and right into the case, and the case back on the shelf. Yes the protective coating is good, but it's not THAT good.

Let's put it this way, I got a reputation at my local game store. They got to know me and after a time, they quit checking my games when I traded them in because they knew that I actually took care of them and they'd be in pristine condition. Nothing has changed since my investment in Blu-ray. However, it DOES give me more confidence in buying used games/movies now because of the protective coating.

scratch resistantance is a major selling point of PS3 games IMO. I once sold a lady on the PS3 version of the game even though it wasn't as superior (and I disclosed that) as the 360 version simply on the scratch resistant coating. she said half of her boys PS2/360 games were scratched up (360 probably did the scratching itself) and that she didn't know this about PS3 and was grateful for the info.
