Hi All,
I have a Samsung 42" 780p 1080i Plasma with a high def cable box from my cable provider (Shaw) and am curious if anyone knows what format the HD broadcasts are..ie 480P,720P etc.etc ? Also, will i notice any diffrence in picture quality going to a blu-ray player ? Thanks in advance |

I have Direct Tv and the highest it goes on my box is 720p and 1080i. I believe broadcasting companies dont have the bandwith to go 1080p.
I just purchased a blu ray player this week and I was blown away by the difference in visuals. To me it was comparable to the first time you see the difference from regular to hd, only it was super hd. |

First off: 480p is NOT HD! HD formats depend on the channel (I think). They'll either be 1080i or 720p. Going from cable HD to Blu-ray is like night and day. Blu-ray is *far* superior than cable HD! |
