It really is just a matter of personal preference. Most would go with Monster Cable, others have their own brands that they get. Hell I got a HDMI cable for my PS3 from Ebay for under $9 shipped and it works perfectly. Alot of members go here to get their cables and say that they have great service and prices. www.monoprice.com

HA!!!

I think he meant "what type" as in HDMI, Speaker wire, Optical, Component, etc.

and for the price, what does it matter? They should all have a good connection, and both will probably have a bad one here or there.

I voted Blue Jeans, but I've never bought a cable from Monoprice. I've always gotten great service from Blue Jeans and their cables are built like a brick s***house.

My bad, I'm so used to dealing with HDMI, I forgot about the others.

I have been using Audioquest cables for years, nevr got a bad cable and the connections (any type) are some of the best I have ever seen.
HDMI's are snug with out being so tight you cant get them out, ditto for all the RCA connections. The Optical have always been flawless.
My only issue with Audioquest is there Premade speaker cables, I do not like the Bananna ends they use. They seem to loosen too easily although it is simple to spread them a bit for retightening.

Default Nordost

Judging by their analogue cables, I'd give Nordost my thumbs up. But cheap it ain't...

The reason I started this thread is I am looking to get 3 HDMI cables and am unsure where to buy them from. I just want to make sure it has a good connector on it and it fits snug.

I doubt you'll find anyone who's tried both, that swears that one is head-and-shoulders above the rest, and I don't think you'll get many (if any) horror stories about either company....

Just get what's cheapest.

I've bought from monoprice and they seem good, But sometimes I think they are too cheap to be the best quality.
My favorite is cobaltcable.com. They will make custom length cables (except HDMI) and I have used them for custom lenght subwoofer cables with locking connectors.
They also made me a custom "Y" cable for my buttkicker amp with 1 male to 1 male and 1 female connection.

Does it matter if the cable is made in China or US? Also, is silver plated coduits much better than tin plated?

My cable needs a nice, snug fit. Too much wiggle room and that sucker will pop right out of there. Makes for some downright embarrassing moments, I can tell you!

With Bluejeans cable, you're getting high quality cables at a reasonable price. With Monoprice, your getting cheap cables.

I've noticeably improved my system by using Bluejeans subwoofer cables and component video cables. If you're considering both, I'd step up to Bluejeans. They're cables are fantastic.

Think of your everyday life... your car... your clothing...

Its the same thing... Only Cheaper.... this is what people believe when they buy a No name tv INSTEAD of a Name brand.
We all know that it is NOT the "same thing"
This holds true for cables as well.

From small changes in thegrade or thickness of copper used to the thickness of the shielding, are the ends crimped or soldered (where you cant see), how close to standards are the ends formed, how tight do they hold, can you bend the ends or do they hold there shape.....

Im not saying you need to go out and buy mega priced cables, but you do get what you pay for.. spend a fair buck and get what you deserve. Don't you think these companies selling low priced cables would charge more if they could..
I have checked out ebay and bought a 20.00 4 meter HDMI... used it for about a day and tried an Audioquest HDMI X... you would have to see it to believe it even my wife asked what I did to the picture.
Been using Audioquest ever since..
