When I First bought my HDTV I immediately ordered two HDMI cables for my Xbox360 & PS3. (not knowing there are different types of HDMI Cables that have different capabilities)
I ordered this: HDMI 1.3a Category 2 Certified Cable 28AWG - 6ft w/Ferrite Cores (Gold Plated Connectors) - BLACK Should I upgrade or am I good? I have a 1080p Sony KDS 55A-3000 SXRD, TV. *EDIT* I ordered from Monoprice.com |

warning: alot of people on here love the cheapest HDMI cables on the market.
the truth in hdmi in my opinion. If its 5 feet long or less, one brand wont make a better picture quality then the other. You have to have a very long wire to notice a difference. The only reason to spend money is for reliability. I used to work at circuit city and have seen the down-sides to the cables that cost less then 10$. Ive seen ones that stop transfering sound from the player to the tv/receiver. Ive seen ones where after being plugged and unplugged a couple times you have to wiggle the connector in the TV to get a picture. Ive seen ones completely stop working after a couple months. My rule, spend more then 30$, make sure it has gold connectors. and you should be ok. I personally buy belkin. But i do like monster HDMI, only because they lock into place when you plug them in. And plus the employee discount on them was ridiculous EDIT: the cable you got does closely resemble the hdmi's i used to see go defective fairly often, but at least it has gold tips. A name brand manufacturer should probably have higher quality controls then a no name brand. I had to replace a no name brand HDMI cable because it was causing the image on screen to be fragmented and jumpy. I know it was the cable because it did it when connected to multiple HDMI devices and inputs, yet when a different cable was used everything looked great. While I find Monster to be over priced I think you lose something when you go to cheap, I prefer a middle of the road approach. EDIT: This is what I use - XtremeHD |

Monoprice.com. I just ordered an HDMI cable. its of great quality and for $10. Also, most people are under the impression that they need the 1.3 cables, which you really dont. most electronics out cant even take advantage of the technology these cables are built for. 1.1's will run the uncompressed and HD sound formats, just like the 1.3 cables...

I believe so as well, you would be hard pressed to find an HDMI cable made in the US. www.bluejeanscable.com would be your best bet.

if you have a ps3, all you need is a receiver that has HDMI input and is PCM compliant.
