heeeellllllppppp my drive won't play - Blu-ray Forum

i just got a new cd and wanted to listen to it so i put it in my ps3 and it WON'T play, i then tried my blu-rays, cd's, dvds. but nothing will play, it will not acknowledge that anything is in the drive

please help

this is a known issue. Apparently a small percentage of PS3's drives fail and will not play anything. This happened to a friend of mine.
Contact Sony and they will repair/replace the unit.

Same thing just happened to me Sunday. I've been seeing this a lot lately. They are sending me a package to send my PS3 to them.

My 60gb is at the service center right now. Just give them a call. Mine stopped reading discs, but it wasnt the laser, it was the motor that spins the disc.

My PS3 drive stopped loading in mid-April and had to send it back to Sony (prepaid-Sony will send a box for you if it's under warranty). No problem so far, but the strange thing is that I got the same serial number back but my PS3 firmware was 2.20? How could this be? Did they replace the motherboard?

is it true that 40 gb have more problems?

a 60 gb owner should be worried????

if it is not covered by warranty how much does it cost to repair?

ok i just checked it again and it works now. i guess i will wait and see if it keeps doing it

I wouldnt take no chances and call for repair because if you're unlucky like me it will go bad again once you're out of warranty and if it done it once its a matter of time before it happens again.

it happened to my brothers, time to send it back to sony.......luckly it is free and only takes about 10 days.
