Default Best Buy price drop on Panasonic BD30

Starting Sunday Best Buy is dropping the price of this player to $399. I came into work today and read the email, so it is official. Good deal for those interested in a great player.

Looks like Panasonic is going to have to compete with Sony's 350 for that price point.

Oh - oh - but wait, Blu-ray doesn't have any competition and they are going to keep raising prices.

I wonder if this means Wal-Mart will drop their price as well.
They currently have them for around $450.

Is the Panasonic 30 a better buy than the new Sony 350 if you have a reciever capable of DTSHD MA and TrueHD ?

Well they seems to be both the same speed. If you're interested in Profile 2.0 stuff (internet), the S350 will be update to be compatible with it later this year, while the BD30 is stuck in 1.1

Startup and disc load times are still going to be a lot longer on the Sony vs. the fast Panasonic.

Panasonic is dropping the price to stay in line with Sony's pricng. I thought it was a little later in the month. All stores will be @ $399.99 as Panny is lower their MSRP.

If you are thinking about this model get it today @ 499.99 @ a store that price matches after your purchase plus 10%. Go back and get the adjustment, final price will be 389.99 + tax. Just a thought

I got the 30K for Father's Day and love it. Need to get a price adjustment once it drops.

I picked up the -30k from Best Buy in January. I couldn't be happier! I'm glad they finally dropped the price some, especially with the -50 coming out soon!

But this is really a fantastic player at this price point now! Unsure of how it pairs up against the new Sony's, but the load times of the Panny's were second only to the PS3.

I was just busting chops, cause I highly doubt he can support that claim. This looks promising though.

It's SOOOoooOooo much faster than the 300, a single button will switch my TV to HDMI and start playing the BD, and it fully supports Bravia synch.

Very good price on the Panasonic, I am waiting for either one to hit $300-$350 before picking one up. If the Sony is good, I will most likely get it...

If you have a Panny hdtv, then getting a Panny blu-ray player really is the way to go. I'm very happy with the way they interact with each other via HDMI.

We have a corporate account through these guys, so I might be able to get this pretty heavily discounted through my rep. I will have to call and see.

Everyone will be dropping the BD30 & BD50 by $100 as there is an official price drop today ($499 & $599 or somewhere threabout).

It's just a matter of hours untill all the web sites & B & M stores update their prices.

So when Panasonic announced the $699 list for the BD50, the reason for that supposedly was the bad economy. This player isn't even released yet, and now they drop it $100, with the economy not changing. Wonder what caused that decision.

It has been shipping for a month so you just have not been able to find it.

$300 price difference between the two Pana models simply does not make sense, so the obvious choice is to keep the $200 price gap for BD live built in where the competition is only promising BD live capable at a later date with a firmware upgrade.

So the BD50 is still the only standalone BD player that is BD-live today-no upgrade required.

Why not just buy the Insignia? It uses the same chipset as the Panny, plus it has onboard decoders for both Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD MA, if I am not mistaken. Definitely a far better value for the money. A week ago it was on sale for $299 plus a free $100 dollar gift card, plus $100 in coupons (though I don't know if the coupons are any good). There must be something wrong with the Insignia that I don't know about, (besides its ugly appearance)?

The Insignia BD player DOES NOT have onboard decoding of either TrueHD or DTS-MA. It will only bistream those audio formats to an HDMI 1.3 capable decoding AVR.
