Default Media Center for PS3

Ok, ive asked this question in the past and have been told Windows Media Player. I need a good program to stream music/videos from my computer to my PS3. Media player 11 does not pick up some of the songs for whatever reason, and I wanted to see if anyone had any other good programs for this?

I believe they need to be in the 'my music' folder to be recognized.....

They are. its really strange. i have all my music in that folder. but for some reason, doesnt recognize several albums in there, but recognizes the rest.. Almost seems like music that i have ripped from actual CD's it does not recognize.

I have the same problems with Windows Media Player. MOST of it works well and syncs well - however, many swear by Tversity (which I use for videos - I've been gone for 4 months, so I haven't messed with it in a while). The Tversity logo will appear on your PS3 once you sync it.

If you do a search in this forum, I think you'll learn a lot about it. Could solve your issues.

Some folks also use Nero for streaming.

Default For Anyone With A MAC

For anyone with an Apple computer the best I've found is MediaLink; it works seemlessly with my PS3.

TVersity works pretty well, but Media Player 11 stopped working right, and I've found Twonkymedia to be the best so far.

I use Nero and it's stupid easy. I just turn it on and check the boxes by the folders I want it to 'share' over my network. The PS3 likes specific names on folders so you'll have to check that at first, but then it's a cakewalk.

Windows Media Player 11 will work, but you may need to tell it to rescan your folders for new media after you add something. I use a different program to rip my CDs and need to have WMP rescan before it recognizes the new albums. Same thing with podcasts that get downloaded.

Still, I may try the other solutions mentioned here.

What music file format are you ripping your CDs to? I've been using Media Player 11, and I haven't encountered any issues at all. Pretty much all of the music on my PC is ripped from CDs. I don't download music at all really.

I use Winamp Remote just because its free and doesn't have the baggage that WMP11 has. That and I am still using WMP9 simply because I dreaded the thought of what Microsoft was poking around in regarding your PC with WMP11. I am thinking about buying TwonkyMedia tho' only because I've heard nothing but positive comments on it.

Is it possible the CD ripper settings added DRM? DRM'd content often behaves like that..only visible on the physical machine.

I would have stayed using WMP11 but I keep getting a DLNA media server protocol error of some sort, and I couldn't figure out what hte problem was, so I just switched to something else. But the problem was for music only, it would still stream pictures and video just fine.
