I usually just delete and block them if I start getting crap from a PSN friend. But no I haven't gotten any lately, I don't have many friends left

I block anyone I receive this garbage from. It pretty much solved the problem for me.

I got a bad catch 22 on that one. One of my "Best" psn friends little brother sends chain letters like crazy. If I delete him I don't want to lose big brother.

Can you block messages but keep someone on the friends list?

Yeah 9 times out of 10 if someone's dumb enough to send that to me, then I block them with the quickness.

With this one guy who sent it to me though he's a cool guy so I didn't delete him.

I just deleted the message.

Same thing happened to me on Live. The message said something like get free MS points. I hate that stuff when it would get sent to me on myspace etc. I really didn't think it would transfer over to gaming systems.

The one I got on PSN says this.

gift card! Just send this message to 30 of your friends and your account will automatically recieve 50 for the playstation store! Your messages will be tracked so do not worry

Ya me too, I think people send them to their "Players Met" list. I haven't played MAG in a while, but meeting so many people in that I think made the problem worse.

Heh, I'd get a chuckle out of that one. The ones I get are always stupid "Send this to 50 people and you'll get an exclusive PS3 version of Halo!!!"

Could be worse. I had some fat, ugly troll that would send me pics of him in his underwear after each round of Killzone 2 a while back (I assume he was "pwning" me and was trying to rub it in, but I play games to have a good time, not to compensate for having a small penis). I then explained that he didn't know my age, and that doing this could be construed as child enticement, which while a DA may not wanna prosecute, PSN would almost certainly ban his IP. Subsequent to say, I never heard from him again.

As far as the chain ims/spam, I'd report them to PSN and try to get them banned (or send them to block list purgatory if you don't wanna be vindictive).

If someone on my list is sending me spam i usually delete them from my list and block them. When I was playing GTAIV we booted this kid and he kept sending a message over and over again asking why we booted him. I messaged him back and told him if the frequent message spamming isnt reason enough then you're a lost cause. Of course he continued to message spam so I just blocked his messages.

I don't block people that send these messages. I send them a message back saying to spare everyone the hassle of reading bullshit spam and just delete these types of messages immediately. "Don't spread the disease." I always demand that they reply with an understanding to that effect. Then, if it happens a second time, I delete them.

This way, I'm not allowing the nonsense to continue and I'm being proactive in the solution.

Awe man, I knew I should have just passed it on.

Petra, your idea is a good one. I might start sending a politeish email back to them saying not to do it. I know when I got my very first spam message I fell for it and sent it to a couple people I knew pretty well.

I think some people like to send messages! Here's what someone sent me:

"k i kno u deleted me 4 no reason but idc peace"

If he doesn't care, why would he send me a message? Doesn't make sense...
