o/ gents and geeks
Edit: See post #4 for situation update. First thing: I know my entire computer fit and monitor is HD ready. I have latest firmware, drives etc for both the blu-ray drive, gfx card etc etc. (100% sure this aint the problem) I have powerDVD v. 7.xx. The movie (golden compass) runs for like 5 sec before a popup comes saying something about "Failed to enable HDCP". I do run DVI for my monitor so its not the case since I can watch 5 sec of the movie in HD. I've read that my HDCP is blocked/used by another program and causes powerDVD to crash? I've tried installing some program called anyDVD but I really cant get that to work either so, any new sugestions? Sorry for fast poor written english but I am indeed getting frustrated ![]() Last edited by FawKa; 05-30-2008 at 06:21 AM. |

Make sure you have the latest PowerDVD version installed (latest update). If that does not work, download PowerDVD 8 trial and give that a whirl and see if it fixes your problem. After any updates or the like, go ahead and reboot your computer just to clear things out and start fresh. Try your movie then come back. Tried WinDVD? |

What spec is your machine? HDCP errors can crop up in a variety of ways so the more detail we get the more help we can give
![]() First off check everything is HDCP compliant. Then run this http://www.cyberlink.com/english/sup.../diagnosis.jsp just to make sure. Then if your right up-to-date with all your drivers reply back and we can see if we can help ![]() HTH ![]() |

Power DVD is updated, tried rebooting several times etc.. I've not tried WinDVD and would really prefer to stay with cyberlink..
To update on my situation: I got my version of anyDVD to work - now there's a new issue: I can start and run the whole movie but from time to time it gets 'laggy'. the movie glitches. Like a scratched CD.. So now what? Running: quad core Q6600, 8800 GTS, 3gb RAM, Asus republicgaming motherboard, PIONEER BDC-202BK (the blu-ray drive), x-fi fatalaty series, 5.1 surround, Last edited by FawKa; 05-29-2008 at 01:22 PM. |

On anydvd hd turn off blu-ray support totally. This will leave only HDCP removal so it should work (as the spec of your PC is fine). PowerDVD started to write in their code that if anydvd hd was running it wouldn't play - it would work if blu-ray support was turned off when i tried it though.
I'm not too sure if PowerDVD 7.3 (with last update before Version 8) is compatible with Golden Compass. Is it all working on another disc? Daft question - as it's laggy what is your CPU usage? If it's at 100% utilisation that will cause the lagging but will also mean that the 8800GTS isn't accelerating HD codecs correctly. |

The CPU is steady and fine at about 14% or so. If you are right about the 8800GTS not acceleration HD codeces right, then what can I do? I'll try and get a version of PowerDVD 8 and test that out. Edit: PowerDVD 8 ultra did not fix the issue. Last edited by FawKa; 05-30-2008 at 08:52 AM. |

I have no idea what so ever why this worked but:
I uninstalled the newest version of anyDVD and installed the beta version: anyDVD 6.4.2.6. This fixed the issue, so there must be a bug in the latest anyDVD client. Now I just gotta figure out what to do when the beta trial runs out ![]() |

Anydvd hd is worth the purchase for removing HDCP. I bought it for exactly the same reason and then the catalyst drivers fixed the problem so i don't use it anymore (well apart from removing region coding of DVD's for my imported M*A*S*H
