Default ps3 problem

I think my blu-ray drive died on me. I was watching a BD and half way through the movie it froze and I took the disc out and put it in again but it now says 'invalid disc'?!? I put another disc I had in my collection and that too says invalid disc seconds into the movie. What should I do?

you need to call sony support! Your bd drive is heading to the big sony repair shop in the sky.....

they will send you a coffin to send the ps3 back..is it still under warranty? if not, that will be $150 to repair!

yeah the warranty is one year! You also have to be able to produce evidence that you bought the ps3 new, i.e the sales receipt, or they will charge you the $150 regardless

Usually with big ticket items like this, MY TV, and other things, I tend to store the receipts because we all know how Murphy's Law works... I don't want to get shafted should this happen to me... Although when my PS2 died (DRE) I was happy to see there were actual shops that sold replacement parts for the thing, I went and spent 10 bucks to fix the lil plastic piece that was causing my DRE's better than sending it to sony and spending 100 or more to have them fix it... I think it's truly terrible how Sony, one of the largest computer entertainment and electronics manufacturers in the world will not stand behind their products for more than a year without you basically going out and purchasing an insurance policy against it. Regardless, when I purchased my TV this past November, I made it a point to purchase the extended warranty. I've worked in various levels of Electronics repair (Computers, Televisions, things like that) and I've done so called 'Warranty Repairs' and I've heard horror stories of customers not being able to get ahold of the company they purchased the TV or computer from or then having to wait months at a time to have a simple part replaced because the technicians are so hard to have come out. I used to go and do simple DLP, and Plasma TV Repairs, (Lamps, Power supplies, stuff like that) and some of these people would tell me they were waiting 6+ months for a technician to replace the part that took me 30 minutes or less to do. It was seriously sad. But I digress, a few years I bought a Dyson Vacuum Cleaner, (By far one of the best investments I've made to date) and it came with a 5 year warranty! 5 years, something happens to this thing, they are going to replace it, or fix it no questions asked... I think when you spend +5-600 on something you should get the piece of mind that you are not going to have to worry about it breaking down on you... I think if this continues, with PS3s dieing on people, SONY is going to have serious problems on their hands, sort of like Apple with their 1st Gen Ipods and the batteries dieing. People are going to get fed up and theres going to be a class action lawsuit or something brewing from all this unless this gets fixed quick. It's just sad, I like SONY and their products but when people drop a serious amount of cash on something you expect it to be quality, regardless of if their going to fix it or not, they shouldn't have to they should have gotten it done right the first time, we waited all this time for a top notch product, if I wanted second best I would have bought the 360 lol... Just my 2cents... Sorry for the rant.

Had that happen to mine about 2 months ago. I'm glad I bought the replacement warranty from best buy. Took it in and walked out with a new one in just a couple minutes.
