Default PS3 problem

I tried updating to 2.1 today and after downloading the file the screen went black and now the system is nonresponsive.

I've tried holding down the power button to do a restart. It will shut down and start back up but I get nothing on the screen.

^^
Including hooking your system up with the AV multi-cables included in the box?

Sometimes (not often, but sometimes) the display/sound settings get borked. If you were using an HDMI cable to start with, try plugging in the AV cables to see if that's the problem, then simply change your display settings back to the HDMI.

When you are turning it on, hold down the power button until you get beeps. That should fix your display settings (if it is the problem).

I think that is the case that your display settings went to default setting or something. It happened to me so here what you should do. Turn on the PS3 by holding the power button and then hold it for about 5 more seconds till you get another beep and that should restart it.

You didn't happened to turn off the PS3 during the installation of the update right? Cause that can mess up your hardware permanently.
