Question subwoofer too close to HDTV?

t.v. techs said my t.v. did not display any signs of problems. they said it works fine at the shop. i showed the techs,(at my apt.) that it flickered, flashed, and turned off by itself. my sub is about a foot from my t.v. is that too close. the specs say 3 feet. could this cause such a problem? thanx.

Turn the sub off (unplug from the wall) and try the TV by itself and see if the problem goes away?

Try moving it away and see if that changes anything

tried that it didn't work. i didn't turn the sub on. sometimes my wireless network acts funny. power recycle doesn't work, but when i do it for like a whole day it does. maybe thats what happened with the t.v. they waited a couple days before working on it.

What brand/model is your TV. Would it happen to be a Samsung DLP?

On Samsung DLP's as it's probably with some/most/all other projection TVs. When their is a certain amount of "Hours" on the lamp My TV shuts itself off.

you didn't specify if it was a projection but (I don't know on Hitachi) you can enter the Service Menu and see how many hours are on the lamp. Technically you can just reset it but it could be time for a new lamp.

The service door also has a safety switch that sometimes gets screwed up or is not making contact.

Overheating can be a cause.

I had all these things happen to me on my previous TV. As well as many other things.

Next time if it does this and shuts off, try to immediately look at the bottom right corner/panel and see exactly which colors/buttons are blinking or lighting up -- this will generally tell you what the problem is say if its your lamp needing replacement.

My Velodyne VA-1012X is less than 12" from my display. No problems. Never even occurred to me.

Default oh well.

the techs just brought my t.v. back. it turns out there's some sort of problem with the HDMI output on the cable box. i could not change inputs on t.v. to check. it would not allow me to. t.v. seems to be ok now.
