Default Blu-Ray DTS and Dolby help

Hello all,

A friend of mine just got the new PS3 80 gig that came out. He has an old Bose Lifestyle system and a 42" Hitachi Plasma. His bose will play Dolby 5.1 but does not play any DTS of any kind.

Now to the problem. He borrowed my IRobot blu-ray and is unable to hear anything other than french or spanish audio. The DTS on it wont play.

Surely he isnt the only one out there that is having this problem. What about the people that buy a blu-ray player or the PS3 and hook it up to the TV with no surround sound system. They will have the same problem right? Especially with the DTS Blu-rays.

Does any one have any tips or fixes?

Thanks in advance.

settings - sound settings - audio output settings - digital out (optical)

keep optical set to bitstream.

make sure there is no checkmark next to dts 5.1.

...this should force the PS3 to decode dts and send to the bose as PCM...im pretty sure it will only be stereo...but is better than nothing.
