Default I am very happy with my PS3 .. ? about WMA playback and firmware update

I've already enabled WMA playback and I found you only need to connect to the internet when you enable it and then you can disconnect and you're all set. I was wondering though (especially since I do my firmware updates offline through a CD or USB flash drive), if you need to re-enable WMA playback every time you update the firmware. If you do need to re-enable WMA every time, then I figure I'll just update the firmware less often (it's just a hassle for me to connect and disconnect cables as I don't have a router)

TIA.

PS. I love how the PS3 is trayless. Was the PS2 like that too? Trays are easy to break IMO.

Once you've enabled WMA and ATRAC playback they're permanently enabled, even after System Software updates.
