Isolated Score track on blu-ray - Blu-ray Forum

Some movies have very powerful Scores by great composers.
like Hans Zimmer, James Newton Howard, John Powel, John Williams. James Horner, Alan Silvestri. etc.......

I would like to recommend since blu-ray has the space for it, if we could get a isolated Score track, in trueHD.

This has been done a couple other Tim Burton DVD Corpes Bride to name one.

I would love to have a tracks like these on my blu-rays.

The reason these were stopped on DVD was because of massive reuse fees that the orchestra should've been getting paid. The same would apply to Blu-Rays.

Oh yeah, I once had a SD DVD of Enter The Dragon and I liked the Soundtrack of Lalo Schifrin. I was sad to experience that this one was not included on my german Warner Blu Ray release :-(

Also I would have loved the same for all Dirty Harry flicks. These are really amazing! But not on any of the discs...

What happens is that they have to pay a fee for each minute of music that's released, so if you could imagine releasing a full score... It'd be pretty expensive. If you go to Soundtrack.net, they have a complete list of DVD's that have isolated scores (including ones that were announced by never appeared on the discs).

I love the Isolated Score idea.

I do hope when LEGENDS OF THE FALL is released on BD that they issue the isolated score (in TrueHD) that was included on the Deluxe Edition.

ClaytonMG is exactly right. You saw lots of these isolated scores early in dvd's lifespan but the music divisions of the companies(Warner and Sony both have music divisions for example) realized they couldn't sell the score on cd if the dvd had it for free. I doubt we'll ever see another isolated score again from a major studio release.
