PS3 Problem (Help) - Blu-ray Forum

Okay so I turned on the PS3 and the menu comes up fine. I then put a DVD into the machine and it brings up the DVD menu. I then press the okay button on the PS3 remote and nothing is happening. I eject the DVD and the PS3 menu comes back up. I try to operate the remote and again nothing happens. I then insert the PS3 games controller and still nothing. What could be the problem?

so youre saying the remotes are not working or the PS3?

Correct. Both the remote and the controller which is plugged in via the usb port (was not charged).

have you tried connecting the game control with the usb wire?

edit: i see you have. Does the game control or remote work in the XMB? does it only 'not work' during movie or game playback?

have you tried to re-register them?

BTW I have changed the batteries on the remote.

Have you updated to 2.40?

Have you tried a hard shut down of your PS3 or reboot, then using your PS3 controller or remote to turn the system back on?

Also, I noticed something similar with my PS3, but my problem seemed to be related to ventilation.

Okay. The controller has recharged and I was able reset to the default settings. But the remote will not work even when trying to reset. I guess the remote is faulty.
