Default Do you think the Blue Box trend will continue

Well I was thinking the other day, the only thing I REALLY dislike about how my blu ray collection looks (well other then the fact that I don't own very many movies) would be that the boxes are blue, they look a bit unprofessional and almost kiddy, it's fine that we call them Blu Rays. But I think if blu ray wants to be taken a bit more seriously and we want everyone in America to have a nice collection of movies they should make the boxes either see through or black. I mean DVDs did that, many movies company made there boxes different colors, like LotR each movie had a different color box (green-red-blue). I mean I'm not saying lets never let another movie be blue boxed again, I'm just saying there should be more variety, more movies should go with a different color box, maybe one that would look better with the art on it, like V for Vendetta imo the box looks alot better on HDDVD due to the fact that the box is red and the color scheme includes red. Also 2001:aso box looks better on Blu ray since of the blue on the box and the blue of the case. Also while this is unneeded do you think in the future they will be called BDs and most people would even know what it stands for (like how most people are with DVDs)

I also am a big fan of the Blu cases and I really like having a uniform looking collection. My biggest pet peeve on DVD was how TV shows / box sets could be any shape and size and were all over the board. Now I have everything in nice neat Blu cases and is much better.

I completely agree with this statement. I really hope they do not change the box color or the dimensions of it for that matter.

My thoughts exactly, I especially hate the cardboard cases. Much more like looking at my uniform Blu ray collection versus my dvd collection.

I'd have to agree with the majority here so far. I like the blue cases and hope they keep them. I did notice that they look really nice in black racks/cabinets.

I wholeheartedly agree.

I avoided snapper DVD cases like the plague, and refused to buy Simpsons Season 6 in that awful Homer Head (was soooo happy when they eventually released the box in region 1)

Same here. I like the cases as they are. It gives them a sterile, uniform look.

I have absolutely no problem whatsoever if a movie studio wants to do something creative with Blu-ray movie packaging.

If they want to do that, it's 100% great by me so long as the packaging design isn't retarded (such as the original 2-disc DVD release of Close Encounters of the Third Kind).

Sorry if this pisses off anyone, but the standard Blu-ray case design is frankly nothing special. It's a glorified Amary case. It doesn't lend itself at all to include bundled printed materials. Most movies I buy on Blu-ray in those cases have nothing more than some spam leaflet from the movie studio that's just garbage can fodder. It's rare to get any bonus printed stuff related to the movie included in such cases -mainly because the case design doesn't work on fitting in such stuff.

I see no reason why every single movie has to have the same damned case design. The ones who demand to have that uniform look to their movie collection simply must have some O.C.D. issues they need to confront. That's how I see it. Other opinions may vary. I will NOT change mine. Those who want to argue with me on it can just go pound sand. I will not be made to change how I feel on this. Just putting it out there in advance. Flames will be ignored.

When DVD was first hitting its prime, some good custom case designs were introduced. I really loved the 2-disc case design for Fight Club. The artwork inside and out was great and it has a slot design good enough to accommodate the "how to start a fight" booklet. That case design was the perfect answer to Warner Bros.' snapper/crapper paperboard cases and the usual yet boring Amaray DVD case designs. The original Fight Club case really signaled that the DVD format had truly arrived and could be a LOT more special than any VHS release. I think certain Blu-ray releases should be free to do the same sort of thing.

Having every movie case look the same is BORING.

Reading your post was BORING. The cases are fine the way they are so, stop complaining. Last thing I need is 100 blue case and a few different color ones sticking out like a sore thumb. There's a reason for the blue and they look very uniform on my rack.

no one is asking you to change your opinion.

its almost like you're looking to get flamed and get people riled up.

dumb. grow up. we all know you, along with everyone else in this world has their opinion. go ahead and keep it.

nobody here is forcing you to change the way you feel about this.

I also like the blue cases. It makes sense seeing as how the format's name is Blu-ray.
