Ok so i have a ps3 and a tv that puts out 1080i. Now i connected to the tv using component video cables and the audio connected using the optical. When I put in a movie once the tv was outputting 1080i, the color was off, every person was a green tint to them. I adjusted the color, brightness, tint, contrast and all of that in every way possible but it remained the same, but it didn't do this when it was outputting a standard resolution on my other tv with the component cables. Any ideas? Is it probably just the tv somehow needing adjustment? It's not the ps3 or anything with cables is it? Also, the blu ray disc's resolution was 1080p if that matters. Thanks

The component cable has the video signal divided into three components
Yuv or Ycrcb/Yprpb Y (green cable) would have the black/white signal (just like a S-Video cable's Yc has the b/w (Y) separate from the color (c) signal) the other two cables (red and blue) have the color signal divided into two components (Y-red Y-blue) so if these cables are reversed, the colors will be reversed so I'd try swaping those two first to see if it fixes it. (There was a Disney DVD recently that seems to have had some segments mastered that way, colors swapped by Jar Jar) Also the signal could be true RGB like a computer's but I think on component video that wouldn't be happening.. |

If the off colors are only occurring when using component video inputs then most likely you made a error and plugged the wrong cables into the wrong location. When 3 separate cables are used for video it is easy to make a simple mistake. Check both the connection on both ends to make sure they are plugged into the right jacks.
I can duplicate a similar color problem you are having by plugging the cables in the wrong jacks. If your TV has HDMI or DVI use this connection since it should give you a better picture quality and it is much easier connection to deal with. |
