Default Best 37"-40" 1080p LCD

Hi i am looking for a 37"-40" LCD for playing ps3 games, watching blu-rays and eventually using for PC use. I am willing to spend $1100 but would like to find a good one around $1000 or less (including shipping). I think a 37" would fit a bit better, but i also like the extra size of a 40". I will be sitting anywhere from 4 to 8ft in my bedroom (6ft is where it will be viewed the most)
The three i have looked at

Samsung LN40A550 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

I Like the 30000:1 contrast ratio on this tv.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...X0DER&v=glance

Samsung LN37A550 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

This seems like the best one at 1000 dollars but only has 15000:1 contrast

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LN37A5...6592481&sr=1-1

Sharp LC-37D62U - AQUOS 37" High-definition 1080p LCD TV

I put this up here because it is only 900 bucks

http://www.beachcamera.com/shop/prod...sku=SHLC37D62U

I would like to hear what you guys think about these three and any others you might suggest.
Also i would like to get it from a safe reliable retailer.
Thanks

also plasmas are out of the question because i live at 8100ft and plasmas don't work (or at least have a super loud buzz) at this altitude

Panasonic Viera TC-37LZ800

Review of the Euro version

Things that make this tv a standout for me:

120hz/motion enhance implementation that has never made anything look wierd.

Alpha-IPS panel that has virtually no image shift at even extreme angles.

Very natural colors.

minimal/possibly no artifacts from image processing.

It has a 6.7ms response time, is that good enough for gaming?

i believe that's the white-to-black response time... not grey to grey (what most LCD manufacturers use) which means it is exceptionally fast and the grey-to-grey time would be like 2.5 or something... its only .7 ms slower than my TV and I have never seen any kind of motion blur or lag at all

it has 120Hz that is always on. but it is not like other TVs with the 120Hz, it doesnt make things look weird, it just reduces motion blur

Don't pay too much attention to contrast ratios, especially dynamic contrast ratios. I own the LN40A530 and it supposly has 20,000:1 yet in the store while i was playing with both sets, the picture and black levels of the 530 and 550 were identicle.

i know that all of the manufactures do the contrast ratio different so it isn't that good of a measure but it the 10000:1 dynamic or static.
Also i am not seeing any review that says it is 120hz but you guys said it is can someone show me a link.

I don't think it is a 120hz, cause usually LCD's talk that up. and the 10,000 contrast is almost always dynamic when its above 2500 for lcds... in my experience.

I think of all the ones that you have listed I would choose between the samsung and panny, I haven't seen the panny personally but i know that the Sammy is a very good tv and you can get a slightly bigger tv, also according to amazon.com you can get the A550 cheaper than the A530. Also the new ultra clear screens on the sammys make it look really good. I actually saw it next to a panny plasma at costco with my coworker and we were both really amazed with the sammy picture clairity vs the panny. it also has a 5ms response time which is a little better.

that said, the panny would prolly also be a very good choice.... go with your gut

Although I cannot seem to find anywhere that says so, the 37lz800 most certainly has the 120hz feature. I guess maybe Panasonic doesn't feel they need to talk it up because it works so well. Its always on. Its not really a feature in their case, rather it is just part of the whole.

The contrast ratio is dynamic, but the dynamic backlighting nowadays in any LCD should work 95% of the time or more without it freaking out or being noticeable that its actually changing the backlighting. The review I posted would have said something about it if it had problems. Trusted reviews doesn't miss a thing. Rest assured that this Panasonic has black levels up there with the best of them. There is probably a couple of LCD TVs out there that have better black levels, specifically. but we are talking LCDs here, so it would be BARELY.

I would go with the Sharp Aquos. It's a good TV. Then again, all the ones you like are good. It's your choice man
