Talking Any Lost in Space TV show fans ?

Just saw a documentary on Lost in Space called Lost in Space Forever, and the memories of this campy show flooded back to me. Did not know it was up against the 1966 Batman TV show at the time ! I guess when they run out of other TV shows to upgrade to 1080p I would like to see the only three seasons they ever made on blu.

Also learned that John Williams did the musical scores as well !

I made a rather rash purchase choice back in the day and bought the whole run. I'm guessing I'm a huge fan. I grew up watching the reruns back in the day really enjoyed the episodes on the DVD. Plus, I am probably one of the few that liked the movie.

I would be curious to see what these would look like in 1080p as well.

Always loved the show, still have never seen the pilot. Guess I'll eventually have to break down and get the DVD.

The first season, Pilot included, is currently downloadable on Playstation Network (for no other reason than also being on iTunes), so knock yerself out.

Both themes, although the third season theme is the one we remember.

The Pilot was quite odd. Doctor Smith wasn't the strange and wacky character he ended up being. He was more evil and sociopathic. Test audiences must not have liked him too much.

Actually, Jonathan Harris explained that on the documentary--
The series had originally been envisioned as a drama serial, and Harris realized that as the villain, he'd have to come up with some reason to get the audience to like him, before they might eventually start wondering why the other characters didn't just push Smith out of the airlock and move on to a new story arc...

That makes alot of sense. I think Oldman did a good job playing Smith, but he chose to continue to play him as a sociopath, and therefore I think the audience may have been put off by that.

Are you using the word rash because of the price of those DVDs ? Cuz back in the day they had quite a heavy price tag if I can recall. I will have to see what they are asking for them now. If anyone ever gets the chance to see Lost in Space Forever check it out. It was on Bio HD !!

Thanks for all the replies ! It is good to know I'm not alone on this one !

Wow, thought I was the only one who owned this DVD. Wait, maybe I am.

Though I became a Trek fan over Star Wars, it was Lost in Space which gave me my fasination with computers, technology, and robots. I have very LARGE collection of LIS Robot toys and models.

My collection has also expanded to include Metropolis Maria, Robby the Robot, Gort, and a few other odd ones. In order to keep the collection manageable, I only collect the more memorable classics.

Uh, he wrote the THEME SONG (as he did for all Irwin Allen 60's-70's productions)--
As for who continually cribbed "The Gnome" from Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" for the incidental music, that was Herman Stein and Alexander Courage.

Loved the TV show and I'm not sure I've seen all the episodes so I'd love to have it on blu-ray.

Enjoyed the show as a kid in the 80s, when they showed re-runs on C4. I think the first season is the best.

I quite enjoyed the movie as well. Wouldn't mind that on BD.
