Also, as I recall this is a New Line title, so it will be interesting to see if there will be any difference between the New Line TrueHD track, and the Alliance DTS-HD MA (assuming that new line still uses True HD) |

New Line does not exist anymore, Lost In Space will be released under the aegis of Warner Bros. now. The audio will depend on when the U.S. Blu-ray was originally authored.

Unless I missed something, Warner Bros. owns New Line now, and they still release titles under the New Line name (Friday the 13th 2009, Shoot 'Em Up)

True, Warner basically acquired New Line for their profitable catalogue titles & name. New Line is NOT dead.

There are a number of films that were made or in production before the absorbtion of New Line into Warner Brothers. New Line Cinema used to be a seperate entity that did its own production, marketing, and home video releases with Warner handling distirbution. Now, New Line will be like Dark Castle or Silver Pictures. The Final Destination and The Time Traveler's Wife are still New Line productions but Warner now holds he rights to them. Warner will also now handle marketing and home video distribution. That's why the New Line titles in the US went from region coded releases to no region codes at all. When New Line was producing the discs themselves, they region coded the new to home video titles and chose DTS-HD MA audio for their releases. When Warner took them over, the new to home video titles were no longer region coded and a majority of releases were Dolby TrueHD as that is what Warner chose to support. So like Fox's distribution of Species, The Terminator, and The Last Waltz; rather than press new discs that are the same as the other releases, it was just easier to take over distribution of those titles. Warner did the same for the films Rush Hour 3, The Golden Compass, Pan's Labyrinth, Shoot 'Em Up, and Harold and Kumar Escape From Quantanamo Bay. |
