Default Raiders of the lost ark in HD on TMN Canada

The movie network Canada is promoting all three of the original Indiana Jones movies in HD in April, i don't understand how this can be since they haven't been released in HD yet, is anyone else as puzzled as me and could this actually be true or is it more likely a DVD upscaled.

There has been talk about the films getting released later on this year in the 4th quarter.

This would add more weight behind that as Paramount are maybe looking to make some money early off the recent remasters for HD by selling broadcasters the right to air them.

Before they get there Blu-ray release later in the year.

Yep I saw the promotion of it just last night, I am a little mad because it's going to play on MoviePix (the three original movies) and Videotron (my cable provider) still as not get MoviePix HD I only have TMHD It's a bit sad, I would love to see them.

All of the Indiana Jones movies were remastered in high definition. So were the Star Wars movies. They don't use DVD to play these movies over the air, you know.

They've already been shown in HD. Is this channel commercial free?

Yep, it's a movie channel here in Canada like HBO if you like. They have 4 channel showing the new movie releases (months after they have been on DVD or BD) one channel call HBO Canada and 2 oldies channel with a few in HD. That is why I never rent movies, I get them on that channel instead.

Sounds good to me, means it's only a matter of tick tocks till I hold the blu-ray trilogy in my hands.

All 3 were shown in HD on TMN just before Indy 4 came out to theatres... Watched all 3 then saw the new one... Pretty good quality, better then upscaled dvd I would say.

Well, they've had Jurassic Park on TNT in HD before. I think the source material exists. It's just a matter of time as to when they choose to release the material for us.

In the extras on Indy 4 they show clips of the first 3 in HD & they look very nice. I can't wait for them in the states!

For those in the US, USA Network and SciFi Channel have the broadcast rights to the first three Indiana Jones films. They did a marathon to tie in with Indy 4 and all three were HD and OAR 2.35:1!

They do occasionally air these again so be on the lookout.
